Did Trump's "doctor" just take off his wig and fake beard to open a law practice? He's got the same slouch and slovenly mode of dress.

What we need is another Kerner Commission, and what we're being offered is a Watergate Committee. The result will be a committee that convicts the canary for dying in the mineshaft. Come the fall of 2022, and, more importantly, the fall of 2024, the toxins in the mineshaft will be that much worse.
I am referring, of course, to last week's first public hearing by the House Select Committtee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol. The eight-member panel unveiled its opening statements in a prime-time presentation choreographed by a....

I wonder if it possible Seypal deliberately leaked the phone records and then did next to nothing to retrieve it. I know it seems unlikely but I also have a hard time imagining a more despicable human being than Jones. If his attorney was aware of damning texts linking him and Trump to deliberate and clear actions to overturn an election they knew to be fair, that might have been too much even for a lawyer sworn to work in his client's best interest. Releasing the phone record and then essentially letting it go even after opposing counsel ask "Dis you mean to do that?" looks pretty suspicious.

I've known a doctor or two that risked ethics and malpractice charges for providing care in adverse situations.  An allegiance to higher standards and all that.  It would not surprise me if there were a lawyer or two that feel their integrity is worth more than protecting co-conspirators to the overthrow of the rule of law.

It's probably just wishful thinking, but I'd like to think society hit bottom in 2016-2020 and is trying to rise from the gutter.

You think jones had his lawyers do that on purpose, kind of a fahk Q to trump for throwing all the racists and Nazis under the bus..?

Looks suspiciously like purposefully bad lawyering to make a specific point for mistrial AND release documents not otherwise admissible without subpoena.

I can see the lawyers "accidentally " releasing the information long before jones opening himself up to losing the lawsuit, and additional perjury charges.

They can't get a mistrial at this point.

They may not even be able to appeal the verdict, since the leaked evidence shows Jones has way more money than the award.

The trial is over and there never was one because Jones didn't show up. Default judgement - he lost deuce to not participating in the process. It's impossible to have a mistrial when there was no trial due to your own misconduct. All of this recent nonsense is the calculating damages phase which isn't something subject to mistrial because it's not a trial. He can appeal the damages but not his liability. He already lost.

Nah.

Just because someone is a high-priced lawyer doesn't mean they know how to use technology.

My white collar lawyer friends have countless stories about opposing counsel accidentally copying the them on internal emails, attaching the non-redacted version of documents, etc.

I did IT support for lawyers for a couple of decades. They are massively incompetent outside of their areas of expertise but pretend like they are gods of everything. A perfect recipe for screw ups like this.

For reasons, I am reminded of the John Grisham book The Firm.

But in this case (hehe), the lawyer has no interest in still being a lawyer after he's done taking down his sleazy clients.

There might be rules against a defense attouney directly going to the opposing councel with evidence. But only a slap on the wrist if they are (pretending to be) incompetant

Normally I'd say that you curate your collection over time, so you need to make sure you have space to grow

... but that's got a sort of 'I'm in the process of packing up to flee town' type look to it, the way some shelves are empty and others are completely full.

I've scared the shiat out of mall most every lawyer when I get their card and look at their email address.

"Do you run your own email server?"
(Pause)
"No"
"Doesn't that count as third party storage?  Then they can subpoena your ISP to get your old mail without notifying you, and bypass client-attorney privilege"

(It's possible that courts have since ruled on that, but it always bothered me when I saw a lawyer using a gmail or Verizon account)

I think the more important piece of information to come out of the court this last week or so is getting overshadowed by the phone dump incident... and its this.  the FDA has no jurisdiction over 'supplements' and jones makes 100% or more profit on markups over costs for his 'supplements'...  so 'snake oil' is a thing again and our government has taken a hands off approach to 'safety' and 'efficacy'. and apparently its quite profitable for the type of idiots with fragile masculinity that listen to AJ.

Jones has been dragging this thing out for close to 4 years, so maybe Reynal got tired of it.

Or, it could be that Reynal finally grasped how easy it is to fleece the rubes, threw Jones under the bus, and will now go on the Far Right speaking circuit whining how the plaintiffs' attorney should have destroyed the phone evidence as soon as he realized what it was (despite whatever TX rules of evidence might allow).

If Jones can make $800K in one day from boner pills, Reynal could grift $20K a month with just one speaking engagement, and his own website with hookers and blow.

He wouldn't be the first to reach for all that low-hanging fruit.

That's been the case with "supplements" since the FDA was founded.  They've allowed St. John's Wort to remain on the market despite the adverse reactions users have when taking certain prescriptions meds and some anesthetics.

Been that way for decades.

Most hide behind "proprietary blends"- If it's, say, circumin which is the anti-inflammatory compound in turmeric, then you have to say how much and that can be compared. If you say it's a proprietary blend called "ULTRAMANBOOST 4947XTM", you can get away with saying "2000mg" without saying how much of any given ingredient.
