That's either a Spinner or a Mako. The nose is too pointy to be a White.

Chris Lowe, the director of California State University Long Beach's shark lab, said the photographed fish appears to be a great white shark.
"It could be a mako, but it looks like a white shark based on its proportions and the shape of its fins," Lowe told KSBY-TV.

Mako Sharks are very closely related and resemble Great Whites very closely. While I agree with Mr Lowe that it could be a very young white shark odds are on it being a Mako. That said the area it was seen in does mean it could be either. In the video he says it was probably because of parasites... yeah nah mate. With all the birds on the water I would bet it was a feeding breach. Sharks dont usually breach unless there is some hope of food. It takes a lot of energy to sling 700- 1000 lbs or more 6 to 10 feet in the air and they dont do that unless there is a payoff at the end.
I guess the only way to actually know would have to have been there.Still betting on the Mako though.

/ wanted to be a Marine Biologist for a long time.
// Studied for several semesters in Marine Biology and went on even more field studies
/// Ended up switching majors because I had a family and couldn't be out away from them for extended periods of time.
//// Still sad I didn't continue on I really wanted to do that.

I met Bugs Bunny once. He told me Albuquerque is a navigational nightmare.

It was attacking a helicopter, of course.

The Planet Earth series by the BBC is awesome. My favorite part is the great white sharks pulling table tops when attacking seals. All in slow motion!

That should have been the whole article, just the still shot with a caption: Great White shark at Pismo beach. Instead we have to open that travesty of web site in private/incognito mode and listen to a woman babble while showing a still shot.

Done in one.

"Donny was a good bowler, and a good man. He was one of us. He was a man who loved the outdoors... and bowling, and as a surfer he explored the beaches of Southern California, from La Jolla to Leo Carrillo and... up to... Pismo. He died, like so many young men of his generation, he died before his time. In your wisdom, Lord, you took him, as you took so many bright flowering young men at Khe Sanh, at Langdok, at Hill 364. These young men gave their lives. And so would Donny. Donny, who loved bowling. And so, Theodore Donald Karabotsos, in accordance with what we think your dying wishes might well have been, we commit your final mortal remains to the bosom of the Pacific Ocean, which you loved so well.
Good night, sweet prince."
