I see the phrase, "area man", and immediately think it's The Onion. Glad to see this one's real.

Funnied. Not trying to be. We all leave a footprint. I could shiatpost myself to death. My goal is to leave the planet a better place than I found it. However, we all have our things, right? I participated in a fly-over of a female aviator celebrating her 100th last summer. Our five planes was far more of a carbon footprint than whatever ground vehicles participated in this event. And at that leaded fuel. We are all gonna die. More Debbie downer I know

Occasionally 'Sconies surprise you by not being garbage people.

Occasionally.

While this was a good thing for the bikers to do, my experience with bikers is that you can pretty much ask them to do anything, so long as they get to ride their bike.  Hell, there is a whole political party in America that has figured this out, and an entire other political party that wrote bikers off because they haven't.

I'm sure the old man was thrilled to see all the vintage motorcycles.

Which tells me you haven't met many. 'Sconnies are some of the nicest, most welcoming people in the country and it doesn't matter if you are in a city or out in the boonies.

Lived here 65 years an in that time I have lived in small towns, liberal big cities (Milwaukee and Madison), and conservative mid-size cities (Oshkosh, Waukesha, Racine). met a few garbage people but the vast majority have been great.

CSB: A year ago Sunday, we buried the last of the uncles I grew up with.  He was past 90, a veteran, and a longtime volunteer firefighter.  One of his sons was a long-haired biker, and a few years back had discovered the "Sons of the American Legion" for folks who weren't veterans themselves, but whose parents were.  Turned out there were quite a few other bikers in that group.  So he'd do things like bring dad out on the lawn on his birthday and have a bunch of bikers (vets themselves and kids of vets) roll up to say hi.

Anyway, the funeral procession was led by a fire truck, had a couple other emergency vehicles flanking the hearse, then a horde of bikers.  Quite the presence at the service.

People who  ride big loud vehicles because they like being rude and the center of attention?  Pass.  Doesn't sound like my kind of party.  It sounds just like this "party."
