After almost 400 years, finally a little payback.

Living in California, I'm well aware that the tiniest spark can have devastating consequences. A few years ago, a guy was pounding a metal stake into the ground and created a spark that ended up destroying hundreds of thousands of acres.
We were warned about global warming a long time ago, but nobody ever did much about it. Well, here it is.

Can't run out of work reforesting if you keep cutting the trees down.

Haven't followed it lately, but I remember lots of logging contractors that also had reforestation and wildfire-fighting businesses going.  They'd bid on whatever contracts the various agencies (Forest Service, BLM, State, whoever) had going on.  Often rumors about firefighting contractors creating "make-work" situations when there weren't enough local fires.

Deforestation Reforestation sounds like the name of a song by The Smiths.

Considering that they thought ThE BLoCkChaIN could do this somehow, it was always a deforestation company.  They're just really, really good at it now.

I gave up CFCs. Do you think I am a saint to give up more?

I saw a small fire start in Houston from a transformer that just blew up. I was watching TV some 40+ years ago when the power went out and I could see a reflection of it on the TV screen as it went dark. It was one of those cylindrical ones on a telephone pole in the next door neighbor's yard and the pine needles underneath caught on fire but we put it out before the fire department even arrived which wasn't because they were slow, it was only because it was only the top layer of pine needles that were dry. The ground wasn't all that dry.

Our yards often flooded and when they didn't flood we watered them a lot because you have to have greener grass than your neighbors of course.
