It's a dead company that got kept alive by stock manipulation.

It's still a dead company.

What is not included is that GameStop is at the forefront of Web 3.0 and making some very profitable, albeit in the near future, moves. Excited to see what the next few weeks entails including the 4 for 1 stock dividend and NFT marketplace.

Company going out of business because of bad leadership financial mismanagement.
Gets windfall of cash by becoming a meme.
Uses windfall on going all-in on meme status with NFTs and Crypto instead of working on financials.

And they just now fired their CFO and pledge to invest in front line workers (after making them work through the pandemic)?

The company's recovery and sudden influx of funds allowed it to invest in Web3 technologies like NFTs and cryptocurrency

Well, at least it took the opportunity to make smart investments with that money.

On the bright side, back in December when I upgraded to an Xbox Series S they paid a LOT for my old Xbox One. I was able to get $120 in cash for it, plus they even paid me $8 for the Kinect that came with it. I could have gotten even more in trade but they didn't have the Series S in stock and Best Buy did.

I know availability was tight for consoles then, but I feel like they burned a lot of money paying top dollar for those trade-ins, especially the Xbox Ones which are kind of worthless now that the Series S is easily available (unless you really have to play games on disc for some reason). The same console is now only worth $30 in cash value to them, the value of the used ones dropped like a rock (although the PlayStation 4 seems to still be up there in value due to the horrible availability  of anything PlayStation).

Yeah, why they didn't invest in (or partner with) online game delivery like Steam or GoG is beyond me.  Crypto and NFT is not going to save your brick-and-mortor arse.

Netflix seems to be doing pretty good for themselves after they stopped with the physical media thing.

I liked when they were still ebgames and the focus was on selling video games. Since the stonks debacle, they've been pushing Funcos, other stupid toys, and cheaply made branded clothes. Does anybody buy that trash?

By "at the forefront," you mean "after everyone else already did it, and just in time for the NFT market to completely collapse," right?

One can only hope.   Game stop has been a shiat show for years.   That said i expect it end up as an all digital/online business when all is said and done.  Still will not do business with them regardless.

Last I checked, the DVD part of the business turns a profit but the streaming service doesn't. They might be better off just sticking to physical media

Merged with Software Etc in 94, created the GameStop brand in 99 (as a separate store), bought by Barnes & Noble later that year, bought FuncoLand in 2000, after which all stores were renamed GameStop.

Put the pillow over Gamestop's face. Target, Walmart, and Best Buy can take up the slack.
