Everyone is entitled to qualified legal representation, to ensure their rights are protected.

They're not entitled to be found innocent if they're guilty, however.

So most criminal defense attorneys rationalize it by saying they're only helping the innocent ones go free.

I realise he is entitled to a defence and his defender has to work with the cards they are dealt with and play them. But this guy is simply a monster. Dot every i and cross every t and execute him already.

Jake Havechek: How can his lawyer sleep at night, knowing that she's defending a subhuman piece of shiat?

Because being a piece of shiat isn't a justification for a poor legal defense, regardless of what the asstards on the Supreme Court ruled recently. He should get a trial and be found guilty and have no possibility of parole. He can spend the next 70 years in a 6x6x8 cube with 30 minutes of sunlight a day and zero human interaction.

The prosecution should just say he carried out nearly 2 dozen post birth abortions, tried to teach CRT and said the word gay 20 times. He'd be executed before a gavel dropped.

One of my Mom's longtime buddies spent several years in the Public Defender's office in King County. His main complaint was that probably 95% of his clients were in fact guilty of the things they were being accused of and often much more than that. I think it really wore him down.

When he finally quit that gig, instead of hanging out his own shingle, he moved to Cabo San Lucas and spent the next couple of years sitting on the beach and smoking tons of weed. When he came back and opened his own office he refused to take on any Felony clients and instead hired out to help people buy houses and defend themselves from crooked landlords and the like.

He died being pretty much broke, but I suppose his conscience was clear.

There's a whole "European Spaniard vs Native tribes % in your blood" game of racism in Hispanic countries. It doesn't matter if you're (somewhat) brown, as long as there's a browner guy to look down upon ;_;

My brother's in-law family is the same way. Filipinos. His now deceased Father in Law was a decent guy, had spent several years as a guerilla fighting the Japanese and had lost his entire first family to the Japanese Army. But his second Wife, my Brother's Mother-in-Law is hardcore Trumpanzee, loves Rodrigo Duterte, but their family left the Philippines because of Ferdinand Marcos when he declared martial law. She's not a sane person by any means. The War damaged those folks in ways us Yankee folks will never understand.

This is a situation where a plea and Life Without Parole is the best way to go. Even if the Slime gets death, it will be 10-20 years before it's carried out.

Cut the losses and send him to the highest security lockup available.

Being one of the good ones is tempting, when you're not in a good place.  And there's plenty of skin color based racism in Hispanic cultures.

Source: My only excuse for spending some time hanging out with a truly shiatty crowd is the first of those.  I can't go with the second at all - my father and brother promised me a shallow grave when they realized.

He already pled guilty. This is just the penalty phase.

The best outcome for him is life in prison. The other outcome is lethal injection.
Kinda a win win for the world either way.

Think about it this way
She is mounting a vigorous and thorough defense which will insure the defendant's constitutional rights are upheld AND makes the chance of an overturn on appeal much less likely

His is guilty, don't need to muddy the facts, and put him away forever so that he can be interviewed and probed by professional so we might be able to stop another one

If you're trying to prove he's not guilty of actually murdering people, then yeah, this shiat is irrelevant.

If you're trying to prove he did murder people, but wasn't motivated by hate, then yeah, this shiat is entirely relevant.

Not sure what's unclear about that. If you were trying to prove he didn't kill his wife but then the prosecution discovered that he had taken out a large-payout life insurance policy on his wife a week before she was murdered, that'd be considered motive.

Not sure why "hate" isn't considered a motive by some people. Why the fark wouldn't it be? People can be motivated by greed but not hate?

And ours might be next, thanks to the Supreme Court.

Also, other countries don't wipe their asses with the Sixth Amendment. They don't know what it is because it doesn't apply outside the U.S. Being a part of the U.S. Constitution and all.

Smelly Pirate Hooker: khatores: If you don't like living with the Sixth Amendment, there are a list of countries out there that wipe their asses with it.

Possibly. I really think SCOTUS should err on the side of freedom when deciding on cases that affect millions of average people. If someone is going to severely restrict freedoms, then fine, Congress can pass a law, and that's an appropriate place to fight it out. Five guys in barber capes is not it.

Also, other countries don't wipe their asses with the Sixth Amendment. They don't know what it is because it doesn't apply outside the U.S. Being a part of the U.S. Constitution and all.

Well, you know what I mean - they don't respect the concept that a suspect in a case (even one who's obviously guilty and is definitely an evil person, like Cruz) should have serious, competent representation in court. While Cruz is clearly guilty, most suspects are not and reasonable people can disagree on the interpretation of many aspects of a case. Everyone must have due process.

austerity101: You didn't answer my question. Did she choose to be his lawyer, or was she assigned?

I'm not going to answer or research it, because it's irrelevant and moralizing about it is against the principles of due process in the American legal system. Criminal defense attorneys should not be threatened about taking a case or feel obligated to take one.

borderline personality has shiat to do with being a mass murderer.
