Would it matter if they had the pastors in the room with them as they deliberated and checked with them as the wrote each sentence? They aren't bound by any ethical guidelines and optics are irrelevant.

I'm so done with all these phony Christians who think all they have to do to get Brownie points with Jesus is to ban abortions but do nothing to help offer additional support for the child once its born.

As unsurprised as I am.  Aren't 7 of the 9 justices Catholic?  Why are they praying with protestants unless their real goals are... oh, right.

That would require compassion and all those other lefty things their prophet preached about.

I think it's funny that they even try to lie about it anymore. Who gives a shiat? There's nothing anyone can do - Republicans approve of the unelected Christo-fascist wing of the government, they spent the last half century installing it, and the Democrats don't have the power to do anything about it.

Why even pretend at this point?

I think it's more trolling than pretending. Same thing Mitch does almost every time he opens his goddam mouth. Complains that Biden calls SCOTUS "political" when he's the goddam architect who made it that way.

They're basically daring us to say anything or do anything about it because they know we can't.

would it even be possible to appropriately seperate church & state at this point?  or have they got their claws in too deep?

So we've proven the conflict of interest.  Watch no consequences. No impeachment. The few justices that speak calling it a "politically motivated attack" if they're Reich, and making excuses for their colleagues if they're the lefties.  Again, no impeachment.  Protesters. Protesters called "rioters" and "ANTIFA", etc.  No justice.

Gin Buddy: They're basically daring us to say anything or do anything about it because they know we can't.

Here's the cool part: once you accept that nothing means anything? You can SAY whatever the fark you want.

Who cares what Mitch says? Both Republicans and Democrats know that he's full of shiat. He's not fooling anyone at this point, he can whine all he wants that the institution he's spent his career politicizing is being accurately labeled as political - he can go fark himself.

Anyone who buys the transparent lies from someone like McConnell is either a liar or a mark and needs to be accurately labeled as such followed by instructions on how deeply they should fark themselves.

LimpDickRicky: IRestoreFurniture: This is an illegitimate court.

No kidding

It really is. Because the Federalist Society imposes a religious test as a qualification for the judges it puts on its recommendations list, and because GOP presidents straight-up said that they'd only nominate, and senators only confirm, candidates from that list, they imposed a religious test in blatant violation of Article VI ¶iii (right after ¶ii aka the Supremacy Clause). Notice that that doesn't just bar the federal government from imposing a religious test. It's a blanket prohibition! Nobody in the process, whether official or unofficial, in the process of choosing justices for the federal courts or any other public office at any level, is permitted to impose a religious test as part of that process. Every Federalist Society-approved judge on every court is illegitimate and their presence there is unconstitutional.

What's the point of an "impeachment?" You're never going to get the 67 votes needed to convict and remove.

This is my whole point - Republicans approve of this, and Democrats don't have the 67 votes needed to do anything about it.

Now now, as a non-christian, I can say that some are redeemable, but only the ones that actually read and live by the whole bible. Especially the uncomfortable and inconvenient parts.

Otherwise, yeah.

Just spitballing here, but maybe lifetime appointments that were decided on when 40 was old shouldn't be in place when life expectancy is about double that...

I think they decided in today's gun thread that the Founders were infallible and the entire Constitution was written by Jesus - even the newer parts - and we're lucky to have such a divine document that can only be interpreted by the justices god himself puts on the high court.

That's the summary anyway.

Tax the farking churches already

2022-07-06 8:33:51 PM
Let's see:
- lying about holding prayer sessions (something about lying or bearing false witness),

- denying praying when challenged on it (similar to Peter's denial of associating with Christ when he was challenged by the people in the High Priest's courtyard),

- all the half-truths of the justices during their nomination process when they said that Roe v Wade settled precedent - testimony that they gave after they swore to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth - which contradicts Christ's teaching in Matthew 5:34-40
(bonus "points" for blasphemy if they gave their oath on a bible)

... feel free to add to the list

/ The links that I posted use verses from the Catholic version of the Bible, since so many of the justices are Caholic
