Weird, the article didn't mention what was probably the most noteworthy part of the announcement of their production company today, which is that they're making a live-action adaptation of Death Note for Netflix.  That's right, another one (but this time its a TV show).

Sitting through a play that's twice as long as it needs to be is a lot more painful than sitting through a TV show that's twice as long as it needs to be.

Because a possible adaptation of The Talisman blows Death Note completely away.

The Death Note fans will complain about any changes, new people will be ambivalent, and it will play out like Cowboy Bebop, probably.

They should write an original show instead of anime adaption or pick a property that hasn't been tapped out. I mean Death Note even got a musical!

Looking forward to season 5 a lot but I hope they don't run it into the ground. Not sure how they can pull off a rather FX heavy show on stage.

"The Talisman," which the Duffers are working on with Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment

Well, Stephen King miniseries do tend to amble along.

Maybe they can make a live action Elfen Lied

I've seen it, in the splatter zone.

We exited the theater to an alley with a table with paper towels in a Chicago November.

Corn syrup is very difficult to remove when it's thick as snot.

Not great music, but great show.

A live action hentai. The Boys upped the ante recently.  Netflix's only hope to beat 'em is to pull out ALL the stops. Sam Rami could direct.

And by that you mean your friend won't let you use his password any more because Netflix will start charging him more.

Oh well, their loss.

Pretty sure the Stranger things spin off is going to be about the Russian Cop and stopping Russia Portal Experiments.

I'm guessing it won't even be that connected.  I'm thinking it's a completely separate story that only ties back to The Shop, or whatever government agency Papa was a part of.

Season 4 started slow finished awesome (with the end of part 1).  The second part was okay, but dragged and was easily an hour longer than it needed to be.

//Still better than Umbrella Academy season 3 which was just bad.

This is what got me excited:

That includes a previously-announced Netflix series based on Stephen King and Peter Straub's 1984 novel, "The Talisman," which the Duffers are working on with Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment and Paramount Television

Apparently Spielberg has owned the rights to The Talisman since 1982

Was wondering if I was the only one who thought that.  I watched it on a long flight so I thought that environment might have tainted the experience for me, but I remember pausing to overhear an announcement from the cabin and thinking, "holy shiat there's still more than an hour left?"

Season 4 was kind of hit or miss for me.  The Hawkins storyline was the best part, the throw back Nightmare on Elm Street feel and all. The California road trip and Eleven stuff had its moments.  But the Russian stuff felt completely pointless.

Then again, while I've enjoyed the series, I've never been a die-hard.  Had I not been a child of the 80s, I doubt I would have liked any of it much at all.

I felt that the last couple episodes could have been tightened up a bit. Probably take 5 minutes out of Russia and a couple minutes from the Pizza Van crew, and perhaps delete some 'prep time' around Hawkins. Then you have the setup and final action that is divided between so many locations (the prison in Russia, outside the prison in Russia, pizza place, Max's mind, the attic, the playground, around the trailer in the upside-down, and inside the house in the upside-down). Flipping between eight different concurrent scenes involving twenty named characters is going to consume a lot of time in setup and action.
