Ah subby, you sweet summer child, still thinking the legal system still somehow applies to politicians after they've repeatedly demonstrated that they can just ignore the law and court orders without penalty

What are they gonna do, arrest him?

Welcome to your day in court, now raise your right hand and swear to tell the truth...

Oh I look forward to hearing this argument in court.

This is a criminal subpoena issued by a state. It's not a Congressional subpoena. It can actually be enforced.

Yes, they can.

I encourage this wholeheartedly, Lindsey. Please proceed.

"OK fine, how does being charged with misprision of a felony work for your client?"

The gap between what law enforcement can do to the wealthy and powerful and what they will do is big enough to fit a collapsed nation inside it.

Prove me wrong, Merrick. Please, prove me wrong.
I'm not sure how you get Trump supporter from my talking about how Trump and his allies broke laws and need to be held accountable - but won't, because our DOJ doesn't hold people like them accountable - so that's just silly on your part. Maybe get a farking clue.

He's a rich, WHITE, and a SENATOR. He'll be just fine telling them to f**k off because he'll appeal all the USSC and they'll be like: "He can ignore that ebil overreaching subpoena... totes cool."

Why should someone else go to jail for a crime you noticed?

Should it stand, the subpoena issued today would erode the Constitutional balance of power and the ability of a Member of Congress to do their job.

I guess I missed the part of the Constitution laying out that the job a US Senator from one state entails monkeying in the elections of a neighboring state.

// I sure wish Republicans would start sharing the Constitutions they're reading from - might help to clear up some of these misconceptions about what the document actually says
// I'm also kind of interested in how this squares with "states run their own elections for Federal office" (note: "interested in" also means "thoroughly unsurprised at the hypocrisy of")

"...simply a witness"?

Are they arguing that he can't be subpoenaed as a witness?

2022-07-06 11:57:58 AM
I have extremely little hope that anything would happen to Trump. I have even less hope that anything would happen to Lindsey.

They ONLY way to remove Lindsey from our government is to find his gay hookers. He's an asshole, but he's far smarter than Trump by miles.

So - if you're on the Judiciary Committee you're not required to participate in justice?

That doesn't sound right

Yeah. Bill Clinton had to testify. Had to.  Just ask Lindsay Graham.

2022-07-06 12:00:49 PM
So he challenges it, gets a bunkie judge and a court date is set for next year. This could happen.

Oh, wait....

Not yet, he hasn't exhausted all his legal options.  That's what the article is about.  You should have read it and you wouldn't have to ask a question you should already know the answer to.

Georgia's law enforcement are going to need his help enforcing any warrants unless Graham is planning on visiting Georgia in person.

"This is all politics." according to Madame Ladybugs lawyers. Well lucky for you highly paid legal eagles your client just happens to be a politician.  This is right up his ally.

/ I've heard his ally is quite popular with entomologists.

I like that he thinks that someone wouldn't subpoena an individual who indicated that they'd willingly testify.

That's not how it works. At all. Prosecutors/defense counsel always subpoena witnesses. Even those that are favorable to their case. That he is whining about how this very routine, completely normal process is beyond the pale,  means 1 of 3 things.

1. Since he's an attorney, he knows the normal procedure, and he's lying.
2. Despite being an attorney, he doesn't know the normal procedure, and he's incompetent
3. He's both lying, and incompetent.

True, but the whole world has heard the tape.  They committed a felony and everyone on the call knew it. As do we all, now, expect for the willfully ignorant.  Sometimes you just can't ignore something so blatant

Right now our DOJ is ignoring an attempted farking coup to the point where they unwilling to even describe it as a coup, so you do the math.
