They always try to drag the little guy into it by appealing to their "hard earned tax dollars". You pay the same in taxes no matter what the government spends it on, which is usually bullshiat that doesn't serve your best interests anyway. So STFU about the farking taxes, that's not the issue. This guy being a complete doucheweasel is the issue.

Do it. Sue. I would love to hear Missouri contradict what the Supreme Court just said about states' rights.

"The resolution, however, explicitly says that funds for out-of-state travel will not come from taxpayer dollars or the city's general fund, according to KCUR, the local NPR affiliate. In fact, the resolution doesn't even mention abortion, though it intends to reimburse city employees and dependents who need to leave Missouri for healthcare. Lucas said the resolution was written in a manner that doesn't "welcome a legal challenge," according to the Kansas City Star."

A Republican lying?  Shocking!

Yeah, even after Roe my wife still won't leave this godforsaken state.

She has chosen to die on this hill. FYI - she probably knows how to get into my arsenal so maybe stay off the hill if things get worse or she gets diagnosed with cancer or something.

So the 'pro freedom' GOP is saying that local communities can't spend their money on things the GOP doesn't want.

Can you imagine the uproar if democrats even tried something like this? they'd be crying fascism

And yet:

Missouri has become the latest state to throw down a broad challenge to the enforcement of federal firearms laws, as Republican-controlled state legislatures intensify their fierce political counterattack against President Biden's gun control proposals.

A bill signed by Gov. Mike Parson over the weekend - at a gun store called Frontier Justice - threatens a penalty of $50,000 against any local police agency that enforces certain federal gun laws and regulations that constitute "infringements" of Second Amendment gun rights.

The new law "is about protecting law-abiding Missourians against government overreach and unconstitutional federal mandates," Mr. Parson and the attorney general, Eric Schmitt, said in a letter defending the law on Thursday to the U.S. Justice Department. They said the state would "reject any attempt by the federal government to circumvent the fundamental right Missourians have to keep and bear arms to protect themselves and their property."

2022-07-06 1:27:43 PM
How would the State have standing to sue KCMO over this?  How is the State harmed by this law?  It doesn't undercut Missouri's authority to outlaw abortion in the state - that still exists.  They didn't outlaw abortions for Missourians, they outlawed abortions in Missouri.  The difference is huge.

This guy is a total douche nozzle that needs to briefly wake up at the bottom of the Missouri river, but he is suing to prevent spending public funds for abortion related expenses, he is not suing to prevent travel yet.

I'm sure that's what most of them will way when the first lawsuit hits the news.

Even if these people were devout readers of the bible who lived to do the things Jesus asked of them I would call bullshiat on them having any say in my life. The fact they're all willfully ignorant about the bible and complete hypocrites (as well as being stupid and usually fat) makes it even worse.

Karma Chameleon: its states rights not city's rights checkfark libshiats

We could go county by county, then the individual cities can decide to follow what the county does; then let's say certain districts can choose their own policy, and eventually we can just let individual people do what they decide for themselves.

He is running for Senate, he isnt going to win, that will go the our former Governor who is an admitted rapest.   He is just pulling political stunts.  One of his many was to sue all the school districts that had a mask mandate.  If he feels he can get some points, he just sues and gets his face on the news.

Current stunt is suing schools over student surveys. Our district was one of the ones sued and in response just released the entire survey to the public, because there was nothing remotely objectionable in it.

There needs to be a pressure campaign to force sensible corporations to move out of states like this where their female and LGBT employees are unsafe and unprotected.

It's not enough to Tweet "We'll buy your bus ticket to the clinic."

Move.

Let these states fail. That's what they want.

70% of the population of MO is too broke to pay taxes on more than their pickup anyway. Listening to some toothless meth head ranting about the government wasting his tax dollars was probably one of the least off-putting parts of my Missouri experience.

Not by a long shot.
We also have Springfield, Cape Girardeau... look, the list is pretty damn exhaustive.
And centered around "no abortions for anyone, any weapon you want for everyone (who is white)."

This is a desperate ploy to try and get closer to Greitens in the polls.

It's to be closer to family but the MO GOP's commitment to race to the bottom just made the choice a lot easier for me.

Corporations are choosing to colonize instead, so far.

But yet somehow its KC and STL sucking tax dollars from "hard-working" (ie. White) Missourians.

I worked at a supermarket in St. Charles County (Republican  county in STL suburbs) and I saw more than my fair share of EBT cards and WIC checks being used.

The state is heavily gerrymandered. There is also the entirety of southern Missouri.

About 6.2M people in the state and it is about 83% white.

The state hasn't voted Democratic since the AWB. That, racism, and abortion is how the GOP turned the state from purple to red. Trump won the state in 2020 by 15 points.

The eight house seats are broken into 2 for Democrats (won with 80% and 60% of vote) and 6 for the GOP while overall 60% of US House votes going to the GOP in the state. Every statewide office is held by a Republican and there are supermajorities in both chambers of the state legislature. The GOP owns and operates the state of Missouri.
