But which fried chicken is the best? KFC? Popeye's? Church's? Or other?

Red Roost Crabhouse among the deepest, darkest parts of Maryland's Eastern Shore is my favorite. But the crabs are what I go for there.

Winco does a great job. Local supermarket chain.  I'd go get some, but the window guys are here and their trucks are blocking the driveway.

I never seem to hear about these National Food days in a timely manner.

My local grocery store receipts have coupons for the local Popeyes.  10 pieces for $10, and 5 biscuits and a large side for $5 more. That's a really good price these days.

Maybe I'll have to fly to Chicago today for Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken.

Never heard of it and I live in Chicago.  Looks like their menus are locality based, so I would hope they have their version of our mild sauce.

They used to have another on State Street nearby Billy Goat Tavern / Michigan Ave as well. You don't really need sauce, unless you want some Louisiana Hot Sauce to make it spicier. That sauce goes perfectly with Fried Chicken.

Please tell me you've at least been to Zombie Taco and BopnGrill

Apologies, that came off as snotty. I know there's a ton of good places to eat in Chicago, just hoping you've had a chance to try two more good places.

Been to Zombie Taco once. I'm more of a LA Pasidita person who eats before and after the partying.

They have been running that deal for like two years and most of us never noticed it. I just happened flip the receipt around on some bored shiat.  The good thing is that it's not the ghetto Popeyes.  You're in and out quickly.

KFC is the worst. How can it be so greasy and so dry at the same time?

Harry Wagstaff: KFC is the worst. How can it be so greasy and so dry at the same time?

Pro Tip:

Either go to a location that's got steady traffic and thus steady product turns,  or kindly ask your cashier for the "fresh stuff".

What you're experiencing is the stuff that's been sitting in the rack for too long.

Perhaps I blaspheme, but I get to a point where I just chicken out. I had it yesterday. Give me something else. Give me an extra helping of British porridge.

Or I can just go to the Popeye's, Church's, or Chicken Express near me that don't have that problem.

I found the best fried chicken.  Sorry for the rest of you that don't live near by.  Hangry Panda is the ish.  Seriously:

Gus's is a chain. I think they started in Memphis. There is one here in Little Rock. It is pretty good though.

For me, there can be only one greatest. I'm afraid they will die out with all of the small towns they exist in (I think there are about 4 left, all in south AR or north LA).

No trip down south to the stomping grounds will be done without a stop there. Seems every time I go there, I run into some old friends that don't even live remotely close. It's a pilgrimage of sorts.

New Orleans?  Get your ass to Coop's Place.  Best fried chicken I've ever had, and my pasty white self went to Willie Mae's.

There's a Korean fried chicken place on MLK in Portland which is fantastic.
And a Chicken Katsu and Japanese curry place downtown.
And a couple Soul Food restaurants near here.
Three different styles. All excellent
