I once had a bullfrog that lived in my small backyard pond. It was drowned by a toad during a toad breeding frenzy.

During breeding, male toads will latch onto a female (grab with their arms from behind - amplexus) and not let go until the female signals she is done laying eggs. The toad guys are not picky about what they grab which may include boy toads, human hands, or frogs of other species. If a male is grabbed he has a special signals that says "get off me, I'm a boy". Bull frogs don't speak this language. In the morning after the breeding frenzy I found my bullfrog dead with a toad still clamped to its back.
