CSB: My uncle owns a Christmas Tree farm that is next to a small Amish community. He had an old silo on his property that had not been used in years. One day, his Amish neighbor asks him if he can buy my uncle's silo. My uncle said, "If you can take it apart and haul it away, you can have it for free." The next weekend, 60 Amish men with hand tools, climbing ropes and a horse-drawn hay wagon descended on his farm. My father joined my uncle and watched as those men took apart that silo brick-by-brick, dropped the bricks on the hay wagon, then hauled it away. It took about 6 hours. My uncle said they had the silo back up on their property the next weekend. All done without power tools or modern equipment.

Even more CSB: When my uncle started the Christmas Tree farm, he had a major problem with deer eating his young trees. He mentioned it to his Amish neighbor who then asked him for permission to hunt on his farm. A bunch of Amish with bows and arrows solved his deer problem in a few short weeks.

Interesting. However, wouldn't it be far less expensive to simply knock it down (implode it) or is it the case that these things are too close to other structures making that sort of demolition impossible?
