The group faces up to two years in prison if found guilty.

At the end of their two decade prison term, during which they don't want to talk to any friends or family, they'll all decide to move to an undisclosed farm upstate.

They may have actually had some intent to subtly criticize, but this is both horrible and utterly predictable.

For those interested, a link to a PDF of the book. Even if you can't read the Chinese, the images are interesting:

As an aside, anyone have Al Jazeera as the 'go to'
media source for Hong Kong seditionists stories 20 years ago?
Just where's the US media? Oh, in pockets hogging money. Can't name one legitimate 'liberal' OWNER of a media source. So Al Jazeera picks up the slack doing great work, mind you. Just makes one wonder....

Two year prison sentences are the hors d'oeuvres of the Chinese prison system.  I'm honestly surprised they're not aiming for more stringent penalties given the political nature of the alleged crime.

Ok, kind of unclear, but it looks like this isn't being prosecuted by the CDC, but rather by the CDC backed Hong Kong government... explains the relative leniency.

Given all we know about the CCP, we can conclude that anyone who actively supports the CCP is either brainwashed or is actively evil.

As is the Chinese government needs their help.

A story I heard many years ago was that when the time approached for the end of Hong Kong's lease to Britain, it was not China who made the first public comment about this historical fact.

No, the government of Great Britain "helpfully" reminded China that this deadline was approaching.

I have often wondered whether China back then would have said anything if Great Britain had just kept its mouth shut, and what situation Hong Kong would have been in now in an alternate timeline.
