This image shows Catholic priest and theoretical cosmologist Georges Lemaître at the Catholic University of Leuven, ca. 1933

I suspicion they ain't too many Southern Baptist scienticians around.

Fact #11- It's never happened, the universe has just always.... been

p.s.- Hubble discovered local expansion. A few centuries from know we'll better understand the dark lanes that swirl throughout the universe- spacetime acting gaseous, flowing faster in some areas than others

Past a certain point, 'Big Science' just transforms into Meta Philosophy and is as equally boring and unprovable.

It's interesting to think about how the Big Bang might have happened if the universe is infinite. If you rewound the cosmic clock and everything came back together, crushed to the point that all physics break, it would still be like for infinity.  And when it exploded the whole universe in all the infinite directions would have exploded.  It's mind boggling.

Concrete Donkey: There are no facts about the big bang, only theories

Actually, this is definitely a time when the small t version of the word is correct. This is definitely more of a theory than a Theory.

What if the apparent acceleration of the universe is simply due to a lack of gravity/ slowing time in the large empty spaces?

Infinity is not forever. Infinity might be better described as totality, as in all that exists. The concept of an infinite universe is a bad concept. If the universe were actually infinite, it would not be expanding/ losing density.

I read somewhere that someone calculated the origin of the Big Bang and found out is was only a few light years away from us. The unlikely chance that we are at the origin of the Big Bang corresponds to the very likely chance that the red shift calculations are wrong.

I also read that if there was a Big Bang, there would likely be rings of stars and galaxies around the origin of the Big Bang. But as we get more power powerful telescopes, we see that the stars and galaxies distribution through out space is more uniform.

Lastly, anything that comes out of a mouth of someone who makes a living spouting a belief system for which there isn't any evidence(a priest), is highly suspect.

At this point they're all dead because there's nothing to eat, and turtles don't live for billions of years even if there were.

Now we're just sliding through their unending rotten carcasses, change my mind.

This is all incorrect because it assumes the universe is expanding into a pre-existing volume.  The entire universe is the Big Bang, the entire universe is the center.
