(The Hill)   Yes, Trump is "good TV" but he's also kinda an existential threat to our democracy, so MAYBE the "news" networks could stop giving him so much free airtime to sell his brand of crazy   (thehill.com) divider line

Imagine if they were covering his trial(s) instead of his continuing attempts to bring down the country with no meaningful opposition from anyone in power.

1. Everybody does it
2. I don't do it every day.
3. I still get my other tasks done.
4. I could stop right now.
5. I'm not as bad as these other guys.
6. This is the last time.

Excuses the media gives for publishing more Trump articles or the ones alcoholics give?

Now's the time?

Why?

Could it be that reminding voters of the Trump years might harm the GOP's mid term Democrats only pay attention during presidential year gains they were counting on?

He's also not good TV.

He can't form a sentence without sounding like a mix of Third Reich and Green Eggs and Ham Mad Libs.

Hey guys!  Let's print an article about how people should stop paying attention to Donald Trump, thereby giving attention to Donald Trump!  It's foolproof!!!  The sHill proves who butters their bread yet again.

This is America.

Half of us are trying to build a better country.

The other half profit off of its destruction.

Guess which is easier and makes more $?

Dumb argument.  The right wing media will continue to cover him.  The people watching centrist media ate less inclined to believe positive things about Trump, so the coverage there has a different effect.

Irony is the right leaninng The Hill suggesting this.

He's not "good TV", he's ratings and money.  Certain networks rely on him to be profitable, and their money train will go off the rails soon.  Other network s needs to do more switching away when he starts whining and/or bellowing BS.  They've done it before, and should do it more, and they should be ready to do it with others of his ilk.

Maybe if America is so dumb to vote for him, we get what we deserve? As much as the cancel culture wants to take him down, he keeps trumping (pun intended) all of their strategies to take him down.

Start calling out individual journalists for the actions of their network. Real journalists tend to get pissed off when grouped with whatever the fark it is we have now.

We can blame all of this on Howard Stern and then Rush Limbaugh. Outrage sells even better than sex.

It' would be almost counterproductive at this point since polls show there are a lot of independents and moderates that need to be reminded how much of a grifting, narcissistic, man child he is.

Yes and no.  The purpose of a business is to profit by efficiently fulfilling their market niche, sure.

But markets are constructs... they are defined by the government.  And market regulations are supposed to align public good with market success.  If success in a market means the opposite - public harm - then its the government's responsibility to adjust or dissolve the market.

And that's what's missing in America... an independent regulatory structure working for the public good.  Instead, corrupt regulatory agencies use their power to pick winners and take a slice of that.

The fact that the opposition has fark all for an answer to this man nearly eight years on is an indictment on just how feckless and impotent they really are.

Seriously, if you can't mount a capable defense against a blithering, babbling moron like Trump, holy shiat, do we have bigger problems than the dynamite monkey lobbing grenades at us.

2022-07-05 10:36:42 AM
But how are they going to sell themselves as first amendment heroes if Trump isn't saying mean things to them at press conferences?

It's a vicious farking cycle, they promote it because it drives clicks, we click because we need to be informed of what fresh hell awaits us.

They need to stop giving every lying fart out of his mouth air time just because "Jesus, look at THIS DUMB shiat" is somehow "newsworthy"

Kind of ironic, here.  Every time Trump blew his nose he got 10 green lights.

The "Liberal" Media wants their cash cow back. Non-stop bashing of Democrats and Biden until 2025. They will stop at nothing to get Trump back in office. The Trump years were record profits for the "Liberal" Media.

FTFA: "He'd been a lifelong Democrat"

This lie just won't die.

According to the New York City Board of Elections, Trump has changed his party affiliation five times since registering as a Republican in Manhattan in 1987.

July 1987 -            Republican
October 1999 -      Independence Party
August 2001 -       Democrat
September 2009 - Republican
December 2011 -  No party affiliation (independent)
April 2012 -           Republican

Life long Democrat my ass.

Has he though? Other than losing the White House, the Republican party is doing pretty well at the federal level. They are in the minority in Congress, but small enough minority to block the Dem agenda. They control the judiciary They're dominant in most areas at the state and local level. The Republican brand doesn't seem to be hurting.
