We've elected the same party to control our state for the last 30 years... Also, things have progressively gotten worse over the last 30 years.  *scratches head*... Must be some liberals somewhere doing something.

Abortion bans are a boon for red state Section 8 landlords and discount store operators. Who cares if the people you make money off of are miserable as long you are still raking in that sweet-sweet cheddar.

I've heard this too often. "The people voting in 2016 for Trump were angry that no one was listening to them!!!"

Yeah? Who were they voting for their entire lives up until that point? You mean the Democrats that were magically never elected to state, county, and local offices? Mad at them?

2022-07-05 12:14:59 PM
Like many anti-abortion advocates, Patrick Brown, a fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center, a conservative think tank, pushes back by arguing that whatever the consequences, "is it better for the baby not to be born at all?" as he put it in an interview. But he acknowledges "the social outcomes...wouldn't be great" if the states banning abortion don't provide more help for women and children. "Now that Roe is gone and states have the opportunity to protect unborn life," Brown says, "it really increases the moral obligation for Republican-dominated states to make sure that women ... have the resources they need to be able to carry that child to term and to make sure that mom and baby are healthy."

Yes, I'm sure Republicans will get right on that. The last 50 years (...100?) of Republican animosity to paid p/maternity leave, WIC, food stamps, the child tax credit, cost-free pregnancy/universal prenatal (and post-birth) care, and universal pre-K was really just about objections to abortion and not the stated "fark you, figure that shiat out on your own or don't have sex" position.

F**k that, it's like I say at town halls for conservative Republicans:

"Why am I being asked to pay for..." (ITEM) "... for no good reason. That's just wasting my tax dollars to support a bunch of welfare queens and failing businesses. On top of that you want me to pay extra so people who won't raise their own taxes to pay for the own children's education can have their kids bussed to school. Isn't paying for a bus service part of the local responsibility? Why aren't those leeches raising their own taxes or driving their kids to school?"

Tends strike home a bit, and causes the reps to stutter when you start spitting out WELFARE / BIG GUBBERMINT / WASTEFUL SPENDING / LEECHES / FAILED BUSINESSES nonstop. They really, Really, REALLY don't like that happening. C19 made it hard, the virtual town halls being a pain to pull that in, but now they're getting back to in person town halls. Go have fun with it.

Even more fun to watch a bunch of rednecks start squirming when you mention farm subsidies and how it seems like they're always driving new pickup trucks buy you're driving a 10yr old car, blah blah blah.

Whatever. Fark them. If people are too dumb or stupid to leave red states, they deserve all the bad that comes to them.

There's no border control between states, so really, if someone with nothing can walk 1000 miles to get to our Southern Border, then pay a coyote to truck them across at risk of being broiled alive as we saw last week, what's your farking excuse?

Sorry, but the strife of the poor that come to the US is proof positive that peoples complains about it being too hard to move is stupid.

Just move, you heathens. Or accept your fate. Either way, I don't give a damn.

I mean... yeah.

People with families need family planning.  If in-state medical care does not include family planning, people with families are going to seek their medical care out-of-state in general, because no sane farking person sets up their medical care in parts.  This applies even to people with families who themselves personally oppose abortion or never intend to have one, because these bans cripple family planning assistance in general and mean that any FP organization complying with them is shiat that provides no actual value to customers.

Sure, there are people too poor to do out-of-state medical care, but because we've set up our system intentionally to make those people so unrecoverably poor that there is never any downside to defaulting on things like medical debt, that just means that all of your in-state customers are a net loss for your state's medical industry and the ones who are net gains are applying those gains in other states.

Amusingly the dumb right-wing motherfarkers have turned this into a foot-shooting moment by opposing the establishment of modern medicine in general: if we were set up with universal health care like literally every civilized nation on the planet, the industry would still have a revenue stream from the people enslaved under capitalism as de facto serfs and this wouldn't be as big of an issue.

NEW: Several TX counties will hold a press conference in Brackettville, TX later today where they plan to declare an "invasion" at the border. I'm told they plan to reference Article IV Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution, which guarantees states federal protection from invasion.

I'm with you, but those red states still have decent chunks of people who didn't vote for their shiatty leadership, and unless we actually kick those states out of the Union, they end up with federal subsidies anyway to alleviate that strain.

Maybe we should kill national welfare programs then? Pretty sure NY and CA can self fund our own health and welfare programs without help from the Federal government.

We pay in more than we get back anyways.

I have a republican friend that finally saw one of those "I did that!" stickers and in his own words, he was tickled pink about it, thinking it was funny.  I explained it was actually the Republicans that kept the gas prices high, sent him HR 7688 and the voting results.

HE STILL THINKS IT'S BIDEN'S FAULT.

This is what we're up against: I gave direct links to everything through the government websites, and he STILL believes a sticker over the farking government. Because Biden's government is, of course, going to hide the truth.

So, when you get to things like this that have even more real world implications, they'll still think it's the Democrats fault no matter how much evidence you give to the contrary. I say we turn into the skid and start verifying all their fears.

Yep, Biden is opening Abortion-Plexes in every Blue state to combat the Red state abortion bans.  This is part of a new federal tax that you have to pay, so you get to help pay for them!

This is one reason why I'm thinking there won't be the blue wave that we're all hoping for.

Somehow, people like the abuse they get from Republicans, and they vote for more of it. The worse the Republicans are getting, the more support they're getting.
