Are people with disabilities mentioned in the constitution?

Go ahead. Overturn rights for the disabled.  Piss off even more people by yanking away their rights.  Nothing could possibly go wrong.

No, no we are not.

This is not something that should have to be feared in the US...
That's not even something that a North Korean should have to fear.

I don't think anyone's rights are safe at the moment, even being a straight white male, this court makes me nervous.  My Second Amendment rights are probably well protected, but I am pretty sure every other right it on the table.

I mean, we laugh about Third Amendment rights, but I would be unwilling to bet on which side this SCOTUS would come down on.  Mostly it would depend on how Hannity and the derp brigade felt about it.

Well the only ADD lawsuits to make the news lately are people who go out of their way to abuse the law over the most pathetic thing from 25 states away

One of the only ways in which the US leads the world (in a positive way), getting knocked off by this Supreme Court would be sadly unsurprising.

on the up side, many states have accessibility standards that go beyond the ADA.  i don't see professional organizations like the AIA, or others rolling back on accessibility in buildings.

but the court loves to give (the worst) people the right to discriminate, so who knows.

Girlfriend won her disability case back in February (after 2 years of court motions and hearings), still haven't gotten a single payment.
It's been 2 years and 5 months on one paycheck and we both have exhausted our savings, maxed out credit cards and are living off food banks and donations from friends. If disability payments don't start by August I am legitimately going to lose my home.
Believe me, the disability system is already non functional.

The motto for American conservatives right now is, "How can we make life worse for people?"

Somehow, this is a winning slogan when elections come, because the idiots in this country always, always, always vote.

This is a misconception. The motto is, "How can we punish people we do not like?" with subtitle, "without making our own lives better."

Maybe I need to rewatch some Schoolhouse Rock - but who is checking and balancing the Fascist SCOTUS?  Like... Seriously.  WTF

Going after Women, POC, now Disabled - Interracial is on the table, and not in the fun BRAZZERS kinda way - You know they'll go after everyone with a Pride Flag (Except Trump/White/NAZI/Confederate pride, anyways...)

This is starting more and more to remind me of something, but I can't quite put my finger on it...

Neither she nor anyone else could have known that the window would be only 6 weeks. And even then, one of the 60 votes was Joe Lieberman.

When legitimate claims take so much time and effort, it makes you wonder how the scammers make it through the system.
It works about as well as most of the other government systems. And the crooks like it that way, and will keep cutting funding.

They will come for YOU one day.
Oh sure, we all know women, racial minorities and the LGBTQ+ community are first in their crosshairs.
And being straight, white, middle-class, politically-centrist and male will protect you for a while, but not forever.
At some point you'll find out that there's something 'wrong' with you: your beliefs, your taste in recreation, your appearance, your diet - something will be used to mark you out as an 'other'.
It'll be too late to fight when they strip your rights away, because there will be no one who is both able to change things and is on your side.
That is your future.

Wouldn't surprise me in the bit.  The USA is one of the few nation that give disabled people money and such.  In most ever other nation its expected that family will take care of disabled members themself.  Same thing with retirement.

There are plenty of people in this nation that would love to see SSI/ssdi go away.  To them its a waste of money.  Then again these are the same people who see Food stamp, low income housing, and any other kind of assistance that the gov gives people to not be homeless and have food as a waste of money.

They think if you can't earn a living on your own without help from the gov, then 1 of 2 things should happen.

1 your family takes you in and helps you

2. you die on the streets.

This reminds me of the conditions leading up to the Lincoln County War.

-Private enterprise seeking monopolies, trying to wipe out competition instead of embracing free markets.
-Courts and law enforcement displaying no neutrality or impartiality, and actively taking political sides.
-A lot of bachelors with few ties to the community, bombarded by violent rhetoric about having to take the law into their own hands and how they should hate non-white people.

Makes me wonder who today's Billy the Kid will be.

If you want the theoretical answer, it would be Congress/States passing a Constitutional Amendment, or Congress impeaching and convicting a few Justices.

Practically, neither of those is going to happen.  You have way more states willing to support an amendment declaring women property than would go for women being treated as even third-class citizens.  And unless you can get 17 GQP Senators to vote to convict a GQP Justice or five on impeachment, that ain't working either.

I feel like we're rapidly approaching the point where this SCOTUS will rule that the entire constitution wasn't legitimate and has to be rewritten, but the red states get to do it, because they weren't "fairly" represented last time.

The cruelty and uncertainty is exactly the point of the Republicans. If you're desperate to keep your job, while the rest of the world is pure chaos, pain and death, you can't organise. You can't focus.

This is entirely by design. They want you destabilized.

They were elected via the election of Donald Trump. He said he was gonna.

This is why you don't get to take elections off just because the candidates are uninspiring.

That simply isn't true.  They don't want those things for Those People.  But a Trumpy will run you over and run you through if you try to get between them and their disbilly check.  They are owed, by Gawd!  But not Those People!  Oh, no; everyone knows Those People are cheats.  Not like BIlly-Bob blithely lying for the Lawd to get that disbilly.

"elective surgeries" on 3 women with intellectual disabilities? which judge beer bro thought WAS totally permissible and the right thing to do?

could these "surgeries" have been sterilizations? like in the grand days of eugenics?

this court is pro forced-birth, as punishment for females wanting enjoyable sex, but i see no inconsistencies with them ALSO thinking disabled women should be sterilized, the GOVERNMENT might be made to PAY DIRECTLY to raise kids from mothers "like that."

A pittance is still 'money', so you're technically correct.

compared to most other advanced nations the US's provision is so negligible and its criteria to qualify is so strict that, as Rebecca Vallas of the Centre for American Progress in Washington says, "it is almost offensive". For a sense of how badly it compares Vallas points out that the definition of what qualifies as a disability in the US for benefits purposes "is basically the most stringent in the entire developed world". One in five Americans has a disability (the current population is around 320 million). Despite huge barriers to work - including for people with milder disabilities - the vast majority of people receive nothing in the way of disability benefits.

If you ask evangelicals I'm sure they will tell you Jesus hated them too, which is why it is totally not the place of a Christian theocratic government to tax billionaires in order to help them. Apparently being unable to stand is no excuse for not pulling yourself up by your bootstraps. Everyone who eats works. No freeloaders in Christian America.

You take out the weakest ones first.  Which is to say the minorities with the least amount of social support.  Muslims, Latino asylum seekers and move on too transgender people, homosexuals, black people etc... etc...

Everyone should be concerned even if you are a straight, white male like me.  If you aren't religious or do not support dear leader, they will get to you eventually.

That is a going line of reasoning with the Johnny Traitor set with regard to the 13th Amendment - that the Confederacy didn't get a vote even though they weren't part of the Union at the time.  And then the reasoning is that all the others are wrongly numbered, and thus invalid too.  I mean, it's pure hokum, but if there was ever a SCOTUS Justice that would invalidate 13-27 while furiously masturbating to the idea, it's Uncle Ruckus.  And he gets to choose who writes the majority opinion on any case the Chief Justice doesn't join the majority in.  SO, he would definitely save that one for himself.
