I am curious to see how many proxies were between Hawley and the insurrectionists.

They are all vile and totally unelectable on a national stage... but if they somehow become the Republican nominee, every Republican and a solid chunk of the Independents will all vote for them.

Because we f*cking suck.

Leave it to The Hill to nauseate readers, even reluctant readers of The HIll, the day after a truly sickening 4th of July.

On the positive side...they'll have to start sabotaging each other if they want the nomination.

It's weird to think about 45% of this nation fall in to the categories that vote for Republicans, namely, White nationalists, ChristoFascists, Uber Wealth, or Willfullly Ignorant, and that makes up about half the population.

... I guess if you factor in "Average" intelligence, suddenly that lower end of the bell curve lines up.

Still weird though.

Everyone is like "gas is so expensive" but I drove to Florida two weeks ago and I've never seen as much traffic on I-75 in roughly my 30 years of driving to Florida.  I-75 was backed up all the way from Atlanta to Macon.

Don't forget about the people voting against their own self-interest and the people who live in places that have been controlled by Republicans for generations but believe that everything wrong with those places is the fault of Democrats and immigrants.

When I left NJ a month ago for a short summer sojourn in Sherman's Kindling, GA, gas was $5.05/gal.

Coming back from the fireworks the other night (during which they played Lee Greenwood on repeat, I shiat you not - dude behind us drunkenly singing along every time) we passed a gas station with the price at $3.99/gal.

Gasoline is somewhat less artificially cheap than it used to be.
It's still artificially cheap.

It does.  Not how the author characterized Cotton's smearing attempts of Justice Jackson Brown as "shining a light" on her record on child pornography.  A cheap shot playing to the current GOP attempt to drum up hysteria and fear that anyone other than married heterosexual white people are a threat to the children.  Shades of qanon used to attempt to smear a record that is absolutely in line with the current judiciary as was pointed out by a number of conservative commentors and judges. And the author labels it shining a light.  FFS.

The reason I currently drive so much to Florida is because my aging parents live there.  I went at Christmas and Spring Break and it was a breeze.  It will commonly back up leaving Atlanta until McDonough because the express lanes caused them to build a walled canyon that makes everyone panic and slow down until they can get out of it.  But backing up all the way to Macon is not common.

Everyone buying gas while whining about gas prices gets what they deserve.

I do agree that some penguin species (Adélies for example) walk in a more human-like manner than a goose-like manner...but none of them have knees.

That being said...I cannot picture penguins as the violent enforcers of a fascist regime. Cobra Chickens though? Absolutely.

And if they all ran on "Trump was a monster, and the Republican Party has moved in a direction antithetical to America," that may be somewhat useful.

They're not. So far, all of the "successful" ones are running on "I'm as bad or even worse than Trump, and I'm smarter than Trump so the GOP could actually get away with it if I was in the White House."

That's not a "path" anyone should be following.

I've lived in Henry County for 20 years. You've been lucky on I-75 then. There's no rhyme or reason to the bumper to bumper traffic between Atlanta and Macon, and it happens on any given day of the week. Some days, it is easier for me to get home from the airport by going east towards Conyers and then driving south instead of using I-75.

Huh. I did not know that.

I did watch a couple of videos of penguins moving before I made my comment. Adélies have the least amount of butt waggle that I saw. That might also be because their legs are so short.
