It's brilliant on two fronts. One is obvious - they're using their so-called "privilege" for destructive purposes, satirizing the folly of the phrase. Their very existence, though, shreds the concept more aggressively. They're poor, dumb kids from middle America. No parental figures teach them right from wrong. They spend hours staring at a TV screen, soaking in the worst of pop culture excess.

They lack privilege, full stop
.

Oh, good lord... all white people have some level of privilege, at least in the US. If you take these same two kids and made them black, or Mexican with accents, they would face even more obstacles.

And that's the point of privilege, of course. Not at all shocking that people who describe it as simply a "folly" don't actually understand it.

The author of this article has been trained to a nicety by the fascist right wing, which seeks to undermine every single aspect of Americans' ability to live together in peace. Here he's attempting to reinterpret the humour of Mike Judge by subtly twisting the meaning of the new Beavis and Butthead movie. However, he loudly tells on himself by using the keyword 'woke'. These criminals have one overriding goal: to destroy the republic. And they will succeed.

One might point out that being able to play frog baseball or whack off in Hank Hill's trailer without being arrested or ventilated by cops indicates a certain level of privilege, to the extent the concept is useful in describing the characters.
It's an odd hill for the author to want to die on but wading into "white privilege" with B&B is not the most productive line of thought.

I spent many years of my life being poor and dumb in Black and Cuban neighborhoods in Florida, and as a white guy I don't recall getting many favors for it. Mostly it's like this: if you have money, there ain't no racism. If you don't, shut the hell up.

But I didn't leave the local area for many years as I couldn't afford a car, nor could most of the residents around me! It's weird you think I could just get up and go away. Not how it works when you're poor.

The fact that they constantly do dumb, destructive shiat and nothing happens to them is white privilege. That they're poor is merely the price of the class war that rich people are running to maintain, grow their wealth.

But.... and this is a big thing, it's a f'n TV show/movie. Stop over analyzing it.

Nope, I met a wonderful woman on Fark.com and we got married and I moved as far away from Florida as possible. But man, that's a story wasted on Fark.

You're not wrong on any level, but it also shows why satire is useless. Especially now. You have a very clear example of two white idiots getting away with everything except blatantly stealing and wrecking a cop car and yet you have chuds writing about how it proves white privilege doesn't exist because the movie brought up they have white privilege

I also liked the bit in the classroom where every time someone black would try to talk a white guy would interrupt them

There are only two real divisions in this country and they are not racial. You either have money, or you don't. If you do, you will be just fine. If you don't, you're screwed. The rest is just a bunch of noise by idiots.

It's possible that your being white provided no privilege in your very specific situation growing up (although I seriously doubt it) but even if that's true, to suggest that means there's no such thing is as inaccurate as your apparent understanding of the concept.

That's strange, since his portrayal of middle class developers was like holding a mirror up to my own office back in the day. Except of course, the part where they were laid off. That struck us all as kind of silly.

Mugato: The Lone Biker of the Apocalypse: It's a movie about two morons not Catcher in the Rye. Not everything has a deep societal meaning. Sometimes its ok just to laugh at stupid shiat. Maybe that's what need more of.

What he said.

If you've ever actually seen the show, B&B do stupid shiat and get away with it all the time. But it's 2022 so it has to be about their "white privilege". Can I go back to the '90s? I think I liked almost everything more then. I don't need a smart phone.

Half the reason I watched was because of the music videos. The show isn't the same without those. Licensing, etc will make airing these ever again a near impossibility. Just like Muppet Babies.

Peter von Nostrand: fatassbastard: Confabulat: There are only two real divisions in this country and they are not racial. You either have money, or you don't. If you do, you will be just fine. If you don't, you're screwed. The rest is just a bunch of noise by idiots.

US Senator Tim Scott disagrees with you.

If you can watch that video then continue to say there's no such thing as white privilege, then there's not much point in my continuing to try to get you to understand.

And yet he's a republican. Literally voting in lock step with the people trying to maintain it.
