Space Mountain without a line seems like an upgrade over when I would go and you'd wait in a line for an hour, then get told it's closed and they don't know how long it'll be down.

I've been to Disneyland like 6 times (used to live in Southern California and military got in free) and Disney World once. I've gotten to actually ride Space Mountain a total of one of those trips.

It may look sad to you and to others, but it must have been what he wanted to do. It isn't like people ran away and refused to ride with him. Sheesh.

Bezos has reached the level of wealth where he has nothing left to buy, any additional wealth is just numbers to him. So the only thing he can do to make himself relatively "richer" is to make everyone else poorer. I'm surprised he didn't rent few bus loads of orphans and make them watch while he rides by himself.

Yeah, but "look how rich I am" displays are the only thing he can buy now. He's rich enough to own anything else he wants, but it's never enough. His money isn't buying contentment, it's buying short term distractions. If he went to Disneyland, bought a fast pass, and just happened to photographed on Space Mountain with a bunch of randos, it would be a slightly funny tweet that gets forgotten in an hour.

THAT'S what $134.6b buys you.

I was at Disneyland the day this happened (turns out it was a hoax threat). They kept shutting down sections of the park for "maintenance". My sister and I were there as Space Mountain was re-opened. We had the ride all to ourselves for 3 or 4 trips. Ride it, run back to beginning, hop on, etc.

Anybody who shops on Amazon can shut the fark up about sad, lonely Jeff Bezos.
Talk about sour grapes.  You made him the richest farker in the world.  So you can shut up about it now, Consumers. You made Amazon happen, and you created the Jeff Bezos and Elon Musks of the world with your greed.  You can stop farking crying about  it now.  This is exactly what everybody wanted.

I'm just going to assume it's standard practice when they have celebrities in the park to avoid any possible security issues.  But then again I'm a sane person and not salivating to see Bezos killed because he had the audacity to be rich.

If you're a Karashian or this douche. There are plenty of articles about celebrities going to Disney without farking up everyone's day. Besides, who would recognize him?

I lived in SoCal for over a decade. The secret is going on xmas day.  I think I rode Space Mountain 3-4 times, but every ride was walk right in.

Contrast the modern society we have built with the traditions of one we displaced.

Yeah I always took barracks guard duty on Christmas to be nice to the peeps with families nearby or trips home planned (my family doesn't really care about dates of holidays).

My family was there the week commercial flights resumed in late September 2011. Cars were probably 80% full, half the time operators would just say stay in the car if you wanted another go. It was like that all weekend.

But I'm sure we, like everyone there, looked like we were having a blast the whole time.

2022-07-04 1:43:47 PM
Well, except it was September 2001. The airports and planes were even emptier. Not knowing what to expect, and not having to be searched for toothpaste, we got to our gate very early. Someone from the airline came and found us - no one else was at the gate yet - and invited us to hop on an earlier flight leaving in just a few minutes.

The Rock is one of the better guests for visiting DW. He'll walk through the park with a cheesy grin on his face waving to everyone that recognizes him.

Beiber once stayed at The Yacht Club and had his people go down and demand Disney close the whole Yachtsman Steakhouse so he could dine.

Management basically laughed in their face.

Sad? There are lots of things I would do without crowd interaction. We killed off many bookstores and record chains by ordering things online. I'm not gonna throw eggs at the guy we were more than happy to enable us to avoid the crowds by letting us shop at home.

Bezos didn't look miserable, imho. He looked like a middle aged guy negotiating with his knees and lower back to cooperate as he stood up from a cramped car.

Pathetic, but in a way I can now relate.

Oh yes. I feel like I am giving away a secret, but right in there near Christmas and New Year's Day is pretty well prime time. One would think it would be super crowded, but people cram in all of their other stuff to do, it seems. My family did this ... probably a decade or so ago now...

It was not Christmas Day. On Christmas day, we did Hollywood, which was great. No homeless people or people in costumes hawking whatever. No chaos or panic. It was pretty much like 7 am in the early 70s. Then you drive through .. everywhere and there is almost no traffic. Head up to the Griffith Observatory. It was great.

So Disney was Christmas Eve and probably Dec. 26th or something.

My last secret to give away is to have fun on all of the less popular rides all day. Then between fireworks and closing is about an hour. All the suckers leave after the fireworks because they have had enough. What you want to do is run deep deep in the park before or during the fireworks and start riding. Work your way gradually to the front of the park by closing time. You can ride about 15 rides during that houtr

Bezos is jaded and shell^shocked. He needs to take a billion dollars and go find his rosebud.

If the US will not let him do what he wants because of stifling regulation, he should find a South American country and buy a huge chunk of land, fence it off like Jurassic Park, and start developing it. Resource self sufficiency, evil lair, the whole works. Dig way down to make underground habitats. Apply new technologies. Use solar drones and balloons for communications. Carbon positive.

And if the stuff works, people can say, "We tested this system at Bezos' place and he loved it."

I would love it if he did that. No moping about how society is keeping him down. Maybe he would feel better about paying workers more if he had a bigger pie or more things to do... like a Branson or something.

In short, he ought to get off his rollercoaster and get on with it.

In 2016 at Disney World we waited over 2 hours for 7 Dwarves Mine Train, only to get to the very front and have it break down.  We ended up with fast lane vouchers and went back during After Hours.

It would be better if Bezos decided to become a puppeteer and devote the rest of his life to that craft, like the protagonist of Being John Malkovich did at the end of that film. I would go to the show if it wasn't too expensive.
