Fun fact: The same actor who played "Thor" played the boot camp cadet who went crazy in the first half of "Full Metal Jacket."

It's even more interesting that he went from playing Thor to playing Kingpin.

From facing down Thor to breastfeeding Highlander.  It's a career arc.

I know we had to have Natalie Portman as Jane/Thor, but it would have been awesome to have Maia Brewton wield the hammer.

Doesn't it look like she's acted much since the '90 but would have been fun if she at least could have had a bit part in one of the Thor movies.

Reminder: Basically any film (or Disney tween show) is from the minds of 30s/40s somethings, and their memories of themselves as a kid.

People don't get as excited when you point out that Time applies to everything.  So you can celebrate the anniversary of a Beatles album, but it also will apply to a Nickelback album.

In my humble opinion, the "bug" role was one of the greatest ever, top to bottom and Vince crushed it.

/feel same way about Billy Bob playing Karl.

The Iceman. Such an original. Sorry, Val. This one always cracked me up. I should've posted it in the funny music thread. He knows his woman is cheating because there are dirty dishes, and she never cooks. He even does the sound effects of washing dishes on his guitar. It's hilarious.

Or just a three way.

I watched Adventures in Babysitting with my kids a few years ago. At one point I realized that the Chicago under the surface streets part seemed to have been filmed in the same location as the chase scene in The Dark Knight. So when the movie was over I showed them that scene on YouTube. Unfortunately I forgot that my 6 year old was scared of clowns.

Now watch the end of The Blues Brothers . Lower Wacker Drive is a popular spot for Chicago movies.

I have a very distinct memory of watching this movie for the first time on a VHS rental and freaking out at the scene where Brenda is holding the rat in the subway phone booth.

Similarly the line "GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!" has always stuck with me.

I've seen it many times since. This movie is pure joy. Such a favorite.

CSB: We have a storefront in town that has been abandoned as long as I can remember with a sign that says "Adventures in Bookselling" in the same style as the title screen.

Think of it as therapy. I have a crippling phobia of snakes, yet one of my favorite films is Raiders of the Lost Ark.

I'll admit it's not the best screenplay by David S. Pumpkins, but it was only his first. I enjoyed it, but I enjoy some odd movies. And the Thor worship was fun to see pre-MCU.

I feel like I need to elaborate, if only for me. I doubt anyone will read this. AC was an insanely original guitar player. They called him Iceman bc he tuned UP to (I think) F# or F#7, THEN put a capo on like the 9th, 10th fret. Then turned up all the treble and reverb on his amp, and down all the bass. Pure brightness slicing through ice. He's a little cheesy, but he's a showman. He's from the Bobby Rush "let's actually entertain the crowd" type blues guys.

I enjoyed Adventures in Babysitting, it was a cute movie. I don't think it was Oscar-worthy or a groundbreaking film but it was entertaining, which is exactly what a movie needs to be. There doesn't need to be a heavy-handed moral lesson in every movie, sometimes you just want to flake off for ninety minutes and giggle at something silly. Shindler's List was a powerful movie but I'm glad that there are also movies that let us forget the heavy stuff for a bit.
