We could do far worse than a governor who got in office and actually delivered on his promises: minimum wage raised, protecting abortion rights, banned private immigration detention, balanced budget.

The fact that he is a burly man and a Star Wars fan is just the icing on the cake.

That's what we all said about Biden. And now everybody is biatching about him. As long as the Sinemas and Manchins walk the earth, nothing is going to get done.

Media reports The conservative agenda and reactions to the conservative agenda.

Media does not report on the steps necessary to promote the progressive agenda or the works of a critical mass of politicians trying to implement progressive ideas.

It's all become political tabloid journalism at this point

It'd be nice to have someone willing to get publicly angry and fight, and someone who has no intention of capitulating to/working with the Republicans.

Yes, Biden is running again. No, he's not facing a primary challenger. Yes, it will probably cost the country and the world dearly when he loses.

But not running the incumbent is like admitting your party failed, so there are no good options.

Maybe this is what you get when you select a candidate solely on his chances of beating Trump by virtue of being a centrist nobody really hates. Yeah, he beat Trump. The first time, anyway. Nobody expected anything more of him, and he's delivered exactly that.

True, he's playing against a stacked deck. So far though he's been silent on the matter. Of course voters assume he's to blame. He refuses to fight dirty and direct blame where it should lie. He wouldn't want to upset Republicans. He'd rather lose.

No. No more hereditary rich people for president. Politics is a game for them, even if they aren't trying to dodge every tax or cajole every police snowflake.

Second time this week I have seen this floated.

He was my governor before I moved to Texas to help do something about gov. wheels.

I liked Pritzker. He's got money but he also strikes me as an honest broker. His Covid pressers where exercises in leadership.

If he runs he's got my vote.

2022-07-03 5:23:03 PM
I've got no problem with an incumbent, in this case Biden, fighting for the nomination, but there's no way I'm voting for a billionaire.  Nobody gets, or holds onto, that amount of money without having a lax attitude about exploitation.

I meant "console" but cajole almost works

'For me, I'm focused on my reelection and what it is I can do for the people of Illinois,' the governor explained. Pritzker's family owns the Hyatt hotel chain and reportedly has a net worth of more than $3.6 billion.

Gezz. Why do people this wealthy want to serve in office?

Oh wait. Mouse just told me. Power. That is all.

JB isn't trolling for a POTUS gig.  He might get offered a cabinet spot, but I hope he stays and continues the great work he's done so far in Illinois.

I worked with the last seven Illinois governors, good and bad, and JB is the Real Deal; not just a governor, but a mensch, too.

I'd vote for pritzker in a primary.

But tbh all the hand wringing about Biden is kinda silly. Sure he could fight harder publicly which id support but he's done what he was elected to do which is to return the wh to being a place of general competency and appoint people who aren't openly criminal, morons, or nazis. It's not sexy or easy but we have to vote out some of the criminals in the Senate. It's not about helping the dnc which is a crap organization that doesn't really deserve much support, it's about not reelecting people who are criminals. I don't care whether Dems have a majority in the Senate but letting Republicans have more than 40 votes will continue to be disasterous for the country because they are openly engaged in attempts to sabotage the country and it's institutions. If Biden is the nominee in 2024 I'll vote for him. As long as Dems continue to offer the best shot at winning against criminals I'll vote for them. Just please anyone who can run a competent campaign get out there and help us rid ourselves of people like Ted Cruz and Ron Johnson.

President Camacho:

1.) Acknowledged he had a crisis on his hands.
2.) Summoned the smartest man in America to help him solve it.
3.) Listened to the smartest man's advice.
4.) Apologized when he saw he was wrong.
5.) Threw a party for the public after the crisis was addressed.
6.) Resigned and handed leadership to the smartest man.

Camacho was actually a better president than many politicians today.

Biden won due to Trump and the GOP absolutely botching a pandemic where over 1 million Americans have since perished and at least 27 million have lost their safety nets.

You need name recognition to win the White House and Pritzker doesn't have it (by way of elucidating my point, I had to double check the spelling of "Pritzker")

Unless someone younger catches fire, that's what you got.  Don't let the agitprop convince you that anything less than the perfect progressive candidate is unacceptable.  It's still preferable than the old, white thousadaire currently in the Republican lead.

Biden will be 80. It's very easy for him to bow out and play the "I'm too old for this shiat" card. He can say, "I did what I came to do (beat Trump) and now it's time for me to ride off into the sunset."

Oh. Yes.

Um.
Just playing the odds here, but y'all might not want to rush to line up behind this guy.

On the other hand, a lot of folks could hide behind him.

2022-07-03 5:36:14 PM
Pritzker's a good guy and I wouldn't mind him as president. He's also a party man and  trying to primary a sitting Democratic president, causing drama, when the Republicans are stepping on their own ducks would burn so many bridges.

Whoever the Dems run needs to speak in a human voice. No over-rehearsed, dry-as-dust, politician speak. The calculated beats and phrasing. The best Dem politicians talk in public the way they talk among friends. In recent years, we have gone to lots of fundraisers for local pols. You can tell the doomed ones immediately. They have handlers who have tried to jazz up their way of talking. 5 seconds into their spiels and I would rip my face off to get them to stop. Just use your own voice. The voters can smell phonies.

So I can only assume those laughing at this comment want a Democrat who compromises with Republicans. I don't know what it's like to live in such mental bankruptcy.

What about another black guy.  We were on a roll there with Obama for a second, what happened to that momentum.

2022-07-03 5:48:33 PM
This looks like the Primary. They started with Harris and then when she couldn't get support they kept throwing candidates against the wall to see if any will stick. Comcast had to eventually buy Biden into the race.

Two articles in a week for this guy and more for Newsom means the donors and media know that neither Biden nor Harris can win and they are looking for another Biden 2020 type candidate to market into the job. These articles mean Biden has already lost.
