Every fetus has a male contributor. Identify those guys and make them as responsible as the woman for whatever happens. Simple concept.

But it won't happen thanks to the conservative male fantasy of flitting about the land impregnating every woman he can find.

The most extreme, like Durbin, want to pursue what they call "abortion abolition," a move to criminalize abortion from conception as homicide and hold women who have the procedure responsible

...Abolitionists have long represented a radical fringe...

I'ma stop you right there, Elizabeth Dias, writing for the New York Times but laundered through Yahoo News. Are you just going to let these freaks have the word Abolitionist just like that? We're at one of those rare rare moments where policy factions are in flux and people are trying to stake out new rhetorical positions; the world "abolition" doesn't yet have that meaning in the popular mindset, and you're happy to just use their language?

Vote blue to protect your daughters and your girlfriends and your wives, guys. These assholes are getting power over them which they don't deserve.

Maybe someone should there are 60 votes in the Senate for a federal law barring prosecution.  Worst case: have that vote to hold over opponents' heads in November, because prosecuting women for abortions is deeply unpopular almost everywhere.

Or maybe just send me another fundraising appeal.  Whatever.

"Even the states that have trigger laws," which ban abortion at conception without exceptions for rape or incest, did not go far enough, Durbin, a pastor in the greater Phoenix area, said. "They do not believe that the woman should ever be punished."

So their motto is 'Death to Women!'

Thor, when you're done with that 'God-Butcher' next week, can you swing by and squish these insects?  Thanks in advance.

I don't know what more you expect us to do. We saved the filibuster and protected the dignity and civility of the Supreme Court by not expanding it. If that isn't worth the pain and suffering of women forced to give birth to their rapist's child, even if it means dying in childbirth, I don't know what is.

So... the message is "Punish women for being women."

Hate group posing as a church.

I'm getting real tired of this shiat.  Burn them all.

(But first, show the world how tiny their penises are.  Then burn them.)

The cruelty is a means to an end not the point. It's part of a broader plan to split voters, drive Dem voters out of purple states and reliably flip them red. Once they flip a few more key states the GOP will be able to carry every presidential election on electoral votes alone. Gaining control over the Supreme Court is just the first step in legitimizing this minority rule power grab. Guess who gets to decide a contested election?

I actually like blue, it's one of my favorite colors (forest green maybe edges it).

What makes "blue" so magical we must all vote for it were primary colors to appear on our ballots?

Note how there is no discussion over guaranteed pregnancy, birth, or infant/child free health care.  If a provider denies treatment and the unborn child or mother dies, isn't that also murder?

Or maybe I'm wrong and Jeebus had Lazarus in bankruptcy court for 1,000,000 shekels he didn't pay for resurrection.

Ho hum.  If only we had some sort of barrier between different peoples versions of invisible sky wizards and the laws that we all have to follow.  This won't in any way lead to social unrest.

This man almost died from an overdose of ecstasy and married his knocked up 18 year old baby mama at 20. Chances are this man would never have married her if she weren't pregnant. This is the kind of thing that turns guys into hard core haters of life. Make no mistake. The people who are making these laws and heading into unsustainable extremism are bock-bottom miserable people.

And this extremism is unsustainable.

Right -- because as hard-core Christians, you don't believe in forgiveness. It's a foreign idea, completely at odds with your religion.

That's what I get outta buddy's origin story:  "I used to party hard and enjoy life -- so much so that I knocked up my girlfriend accidentally -- and now someone's gonna pay foe derailing my fun."

It's not enough that he did what he thought was right -- now he's gonna punish every one else who doesn't do what he did -- because he's suffered and so must everyone else.

Yeah. I'm gonna continue reading:

It is no accident that "abolition" is the word the movement chose for itself. Durbin and his fellow activists portray their mission as comparable to the push to abolish slavery in the United States before the Civil War. And abortion abolitionists - as well as many in the broader anti-abortion movement - equate supporters of abortion rights with defenders of slavery

is that bullshiat? Absolutely, but at least she gave some background.

2022-07-03 5:53:41 AM
The lady at the end who had an abortion and apparently thinks it should be a capital offense is a real winner:

She believed what her pastors taught, even if it meant she would face severe consequences.

"I took a life; I should give my life," she said. If authorities were to come for her, "I would right now, I would absolutely go to court and say, 'Yeah, I am a sinner. I did it.' And if that was my punishment, I would take it."

oh, well, how convenient for her that's never going to happen. Religious assholes are the biggest liars.

All of us start off as female, some of us then change into the weaker sex ;)

Us weaker members are meant to protect and promote our female betters, they alone can create a new Member, even though gay men continue to try over and over again (though we all agree what they are aiming for is impossible, they keep at it ;)

My mates keep telling me, stop farking worrying about the US, women are treated much better here (Oz,) and they openly admit that the only really important thing that the US provides Oz is the nuke umbrella, so beyond that they do not care.  But I care, I like women and I farking hate that religious nutjobs have managed to distort democratic systems in such a way that they have remade women chattel, things to be used, not glorious Beings you are near Divine.

BuckTurgidson: make me some tea: Vote blue.

Because it's not actually worse.

I know that sucks. It's the second worst thing that could happen.

But if we had not voted blue, if Republicans had the white house and congress, there would already be laws being passed at the federal level banning abortion nationwide. There would be even more laws aimed at oppressing women, trans people, gay people, and immigrants. There is no depth they would not plumb. With a 6-3 Supreme Court they're already aiming at gay rights and birth control, with full control of the government they could aim at ending birthright citizenship, banning immigration entirely, ending public education, canceling every government program and department (the EPA, FDA, CDC, social security, Medicare, OSHA, everything is on the chopping block), hell they could and nearly did overthrow the farking government and implement a dictatorship. And then your life would get way farking worse.

I know it's demoralizing to have to do things only to prevent the above while things don't actually get any better, but those are the options. Hold on to slow decay hoping to reverse some of it later, or go into full disaster meltdown. It's worth doing everything to avoid full disaster meltdown.

Religions aren't evidence based. They are superstitious based. There is no evidence of any gods anywhere. Religions can't convince you through evidence. What they are effective at using, are emotions like fear. They are especially effective at fear mongering. That's how they gain authority.

I've been online trying to get science to use more emotions and to fear monger more. Unfortunately scientists are logic driven people and don't express themselves emotionally. Science gathers evidence when separating reality from superstition by experimentation.

Reality is the ultimate authority above superstition. Science needs to be given more authority and there needs to be consequences for not following science.

Part of the problem is that free speech and the establishment clause hampers the government from fighting superstition, disinformation and propaganda and allows it to flourish.

Here's a little emotion for you. It isn't just the flooding we need to be worrying about when the world warms up. It's the extinction of our food supply and the reduced farming acreage we need to worry about. People are going to die by the millions, if not billions from starvation.

Ya but save a fetus, kill an adult seems to be the more popular population control method nowadays.

It's that person you just met after a hiatus and he tells you about his past exploits and how he's turned his

This is when I start raising my voice and give them "Listen, asshole, you're talking to an ex-altar boy who
took all of that shiat seriously when I was young and never attempted to do every sneaky thing that popped into my head, and was castigated for it". "How about you give me a chance to drug it up and whore it up for a few years to catch up to you, and then we can talk later?"

Nah, these ass holes will go back to their ham radios and tent revivals when they realize their brand of Christianity is about to get levied for taxes.

Articles like this that let them create their own bubble of magnanimity are the problem. Anyone who goes for a steak dinner after half the people in this country had their rights impinged as a celebration is a special kind of ass hole.
