Yes, many industries are raking it in while blaming inflation.

Wait... You're telling me the current mess of inflation is a result of part economic fallout from two years of the global pandemic and part greedy farkholes raking in cash hand over fist because they can? The fark you say?!

Do they actually cost $10 now?

I find this dubious because I read about the banana boats going to a different port than Long Beach because they were a niche supplier who used smaller boats. A hundred IMCs instead of ten thousand. The smaller coast huggers run short trips full of banana region fruit to smaller ports because they fit the older ports that couldn't fit the giants.

The staffing shortage could be the same. But they don't use Long Beach.

The problem is there are only so many small boats in the world, and the amount of product isn't going down.

It's also been reported that this is exacerbated by Port policies. Apparently it is perfectly safe to stack these containers 3-5 high, and that's how it's done most places. I believe I read that in Long Beach local (union, if I remember the article right, although it could be t5he Port Authority) policies limit this to 2 high - meaning they could hold 1 and a half more containers - except for politics.

And now I'm sober, Port Hueneme is where the bananas go, not Long Beach. So everything you know about Long Beach doesn't matter
