Florida's racist Cubans are a lost cause, Dems just need to wave goodbye to those Elian Gonzales voters they never had in the first place.

It amazed me when I was talking to a recent immigrant and she said she was anti immigration. She basically admitted that now that she is in she doesn't want a bunch more here as there would be more competition for everything. White a-holes do not have a monopoly on 'Fark you, I got mine!'.

Yeah, I don't ever need to read a Politico piece on Democratic strategies in Florida.

2022-07-01 3:42:25 PM
Fortunately for Florida voters, who are very likely to again choose DeSantis to be their governor, the WH will likely maintain their unbroken streak of failures in this as well.

2022-07-01 3:43:13 PM
Doesn't DeathSantis have to approve each completed ballot before it gets counted anyway?

The dems need to stop catering to conservatives of all stripes

I thought this assclown barely won the first time. I'm assuming the "momentum of a runaway freight train" bullshiat is so people don't question it when this clown "wins" by 20 points.

"I think the White House absolutely thinks we need to be engaged there now rather than waiting until 2024 when it becomes more expensive to stop [DeSantis]," he said. "We are going to be engaged in the midterm and, you can quote me on this, the DNC is absolutely not giving up on Florida."

It's comforting to know the DNC finance director 'thinks he thinks he knows' the White House's plan for 2024.  That kind of coordination is why THIS TIME the Dems will sweep the White House, Senate, and House.  All we need to do is get out and vote.

Great strategy of lumping entire states Hispanic population together. It totally didn't backfire for Democrats before. Nope.

The democratic party's belief that the Cuban community is full of double secret moderate Democrats just one mangled Spanish campaign slogan away from the grand reveal hit qanon levels of transparent, embarrassing dumbassery years ago. Every election whoever is running miami-dade winds up putting on their shocked face, quietly mumbling that they could never have foreseen this, and heading home to polish their clown shoe collection.

When are Democrats going to learn that there are ZERO states that they can afford to "write off."

Florida got the influx of MAGA/DeSantis douchebags (in the same vain as Joe Rogan/Elon Musk/Peter Thiel) during the pandemic. I have a feeling that Florida politically has gone the way of Idaho or Arkansas. No Democrat has much of a chance at least at the state or national level anymore.

Well yeah, you need to get out and vote regardless of their plan. Local offices, state offices, state ballot referendums, these things matter. Willingly ceding your voice because some media strategy consultant in an office 3,000 miles way is bad at their job is dumb.

That Biden is not pooling enough resources into FL, even though one of they key reasons he won is because he didn't overcommit in FL and OH, won back Dem strongholds like MI and PA, and snuck in AZ and GA as key surprises.

Well, I live in Ohio so if he could commit maybe some token funds, enough for me to move out of Ohio, that would be great.

Biden didn't "win back" MI and PA.  Clinton lost them.  State Demographics change over time, but not that fast.

He scraped over the line in 2018. Then he became one the great derp leaders during covid. A lot of his supporters died, but a lot more moved here and are still piling in that it will probably be a huge gain for him.

Back in 2008 when Howard Dean had a 50 State strategy that helped Obama win.

So of course they ditched the winner Dean and put in Debbie Wassermann-Schultz instead

Akschully the <SCAREQUOTE>Dean Scream</SCAREQUOTE> was back in 2004, well before he was DNC chair and the 50 State strategy.

The biggest thing Dems can do now is to start the bombardment of what the GOP is doing:
- Eroding privacy rights
- Plan to terminate Social Security, Medicare (and cite Lindsey Graham's "As soon as republicans take power, we will kill..." speech)
- How the current GOP is the SAME mentality as old-era Dems. You vote GOP because Dems did you wrong? You're voting for the SAME people in different affiliation clothing!
- How the GOP is slipping in all sorts of gun controls beyond what sane people want (anyone catch the background checks now mandatory on private gun sales the GOP ensured got passed? Hmm...)
The reality is that GOP voters all have 'victim mentality'. You have to use that to your advantage. Explain how the GOP is further victimizing and exploiting them. And you have to do it louder and more 'in-your-face' than the GOP does. Draw the lines for them. "No more social security or medicare if the GOP takes control. Where are your parents going to go now? WHo is going to pay their bills? Can YOU afford to vote GOP in the next election?" type stuff. This isn't gaslighting, this is a legitimate risk based on actual statements from the GOP, not some 'fake news' they are spewing. They are ON RECORD for most of the things they are doing, but it gets swpt under the rug by the media. C-SPAN archives and even youtube videos of said sessions are great for digging these up fast.
I could go on about privacy, health, education, vet benefits, even infrastructure in general, gas prices, electricity, and even our own food supply. The truth is that NONE of us can afford to vote GOP. The problem is, not everyone sees it. They are letting their victim mentality be used to weaponize their emotional response to propaganda, not fact.
But, having a group like Occupy Democrats or The Lincoln Project do this with enough volume seems unattainable. Even Dems running won't do it.
ANd if they don't, we are doomed.

Look, no reason to let people forget former Florida Governor Voldemort Batboy's plan to destroy Medicare/Social Security by 'sunsetting' them.

Even the Turtle know that was toxic to the brand, so by all means keep bring up over and over again.

Never let them forget that Voldemort simply said the quiet part out loud

It's always been common knowledge that he ripped off Medicare and Medicaid in FL of all places and it didn't hurt his career one bit.

The first week of August I will be out of this shiathole forever.  I'll miss the beaches and...um...well that's about it.

I kinda feel bad for removing 2 Dem votes from this place.  But I'll get over it.

Obama won Florida twice. Maybe you should concentrate more on winning and less on pre-emptively making excuses for not trying.

Only 53% of Cubans voted for Obama vs. McCain's 47%. Not exactly a mandate either way. Source
