Had the "jackals" of the abortion rights movement not protested at Kavanaugh's house, Parker said, he might well have switched sides in the Dobbs case.

See? You damn jackal activists ruffled poor widdle Kavanavvy's feathers so badly that he based one of the most consequential decisions he'll ever make on the court on just getting even with you. If you hadn't have gone and done that Roe would have only been overturned with a 5-4 majority instead of a 6-3 majority. Dumn, mean jackal activists, ruining everything.

Telling people not to fight back isn't going to work. See also - all of human history.
Because you'd better believe the conservatives are going to get a fight. Even Biden is finally starting to grasp just how farking pissed off everyone is about SCOTUS outlawing abortion (don't quibble - nobody cares).

This is the lady who refused to believe Christine Blasey Ford. She also told Sarah Palin to withdraw from the 2008 election. She was right about the second one, but this does show a pattern of not trusting women.

She has a lot to answer for, actually. I bet she won't answer a freaking thing.

I was wrong. So f*cking wrong.

I see the point of saying, "Well at the time..." and I do think context is important.

But when you make a claim stating something "isn't going away," you lose the "at the time" argument.

C'mon, "we" has been wrong about plenty of things. Especially when another truth came up about Trump, during and after his presidency. Still not in prison.
I, too, still hope for that one to happen.

Every move forward in this country's history was gained by blood, sweat and tears.

The most frustrating thing about this is that conservatives never learn and insist on dragging us through these battles again.

We shouldn't have to re-litigate the civil rights movement.  Especially given conservatives have posthumously anointed MLKjr. one of their own.

100% this.  That draft would never have been written if Kavaboof hadn't already been aligned with the judicial coup plotters after conference.

One of the more plausible theories regarding the leak was that it was done by a conservative to prevent Roberts from peeling Kavaboof over to a more narrow opinion.

Also, apparently Kavanaugh has a crystal ball we didn't know about, since the protests started several days after the draft opinion leaked May 2.

Not to pile on, but you didn't think Roe was going anywhere even when Trump rushed Barrett's nomination? It was basically the stated reason for nominating and confirming her in the 3 weeks before the election Trump was almost sure to lose.

You didn't think it was going anywhere even when the Supremes picked up Dobbs (which pretty flatly flouted the Roe ruling, and which everyone was predicting was the Roe-killer)?

I mean, they've said, for 50 straight years, that they were gonna. Why did you think they suddenly wouldn't, literally as soon as the opportunity presented itself? Because Roberts' obsession with "legitimacy" and "legacy"?

// they had to wait for an extra vote, because they couldn't trust Roberts, but it turns out Roberts loves nothing more than voting with a conservative majority

The only "upside" with these farking illogical rulings is the ability to flippantly throw them in the garbage where they belong, assuming we ever get a majority back.  No one is bound by "stare decisis," that's for farking sure.

In decision making, it's OK to be wrong IF you used the best information available at the time.  What's important here is getting the best information.  It goes back to known knowns, known unknowns, and unknown unknowns.  She failed at known knowns and known unknowns.

1.  They said they were gonna to their friends.
2.  The were incentivized to lie to you when they told you they weren't.

So you should not have trusted them to start with.  It's like Susan Collins saying she feels betrayed or whatever.  She's either lying or she's stupid.

In the words of Sam Rothstein:  "Listen, if you didn't know you were being scammed you're too farkin' dumb to keep this job, if you did know, you were in on it. Either way, YOU'RE OUT! Get out. Go on, let's go."

I don't think it's so much that her prediction was 100% wrong. It's that she now still somehow claims she was right, and manages to blame protests (which hadn't happened yet) for Kavanaugh joining the majority.

Imagine if she wrote an article calling RBG a selfish old biatch for refusing to step down during Obama's term because she would probably die in office and her replacement was going to single-handedly destroy Roe v Wade.

The outrage from the Left would have seen her fired and the newspaper boycotted.

You can't win. Nobody wants to hear it like it is.
