So if Garland is a prosecutorial mastermind who spends months crafting open and shut cases that will nail the greatest traitors of our age and therefore doesn't need to arrest anyone to win, what does it mean when DoJ goons arrest people on the very day of a protest?

Right, because the Capitol police arresting some folk for an act of peaceful disobedience is exactly the same as unraveling a conspiracy to commit sedition, perpetrated by a former president.

So if they stormed the Supreme Court chanting "Hang Clarence Thomas!", armed and destroying property it would have been completely okay and just like a tour? Stop treating things like the GOP observes the law and rules, and that if you prosecute them then it they will use it against us. It's already used. They are the children with the parents that don't discipline them. This is why Garland and the DOJ better not fark it up or we are going to see much worse crap than we are seeing.

No, if there's one Uvalde showed us it's that if the cops believe that someone is willing to trade their lives for a kill - they'll run away. They won't put themselves in personal danger.
So that's what needs to happen. Once protesters make the cops understand that at least some of them WILL DIE NO MATTER WHAT...they'll back down.
We just haven't hit that point yet, but we are coming very close.

Well find out if the DoJ ever arrests protesters.  Did you have any thoughts on the US Capitol police attesting people, like the article discusses?

jook: Right, because the Capitol police arresting some folk for an act of peaceful disobedience is exactly the same as unraveling a conspiracy to commit sedition, perpetrated by a former president.

The real question isn't the arrests but whether or not the DoJ brings charges. Only something like one out of every fifteen insurrectionists ended up being charged despite there being all kinds of video evidence of crimes by the remainder. If the DoJ is going to waste resources prosecuting peaceful protestors while Ignoring thousands who aided and abetted an attempted coup, it should tell you a lot about who they actually work for.

I think the conservatives have already lost this fight, and that's why they're so utterly desperate these days.
I think conservatives are looking around the room, seeing that they don't have a future and have decided to just smash up all the toys out of spite.

Not sure if this is the same sort of thing, but one of the biggest conservative arguments so far goes like this:

"You can't complain about the protests on 1/6th if you aren't willing to answer for all the violent rioting and looting caused by Antifa and BLM for the past couple of years."

Of course, the big problems with this argument fall into 2 categories:
1. The violence broke out because of Conservatives causing trouble.  See Kyle Rittenhouse as probably one of the best examples.  Because he farking murdered two people and got away with it.
2. Those protests were specifically about police brutality and treatment of minorities.  That is not the same thing as trying to overthrow the government.

In short, that is the mother of false equivalences.  But because everything with them is completely binary there is no such thing as a protest being justified and a protest being completely wrong.  To them, they are all the same thing.

If the Republicans take control again, and by all accounts there is a damned good chance of that, they are going to come down hard on EVERYTHING progressive and liberal that we've been working toward for the past 50-60 years.  And they are going to roll all of it back.  And don't be surprised when they start arresting people for political differences.

We aren't the same culture as Germany circa 1930s. It's reasonable to conclude that our reactions to oppression will also be different than theirs.
Or did you mean to say that all cultures in all time periods in all of human history are always exactly the same?

I went down to the Supreme Court on Monday to protest and it was like 90% anti-abortion people with signs of dead fetuses. shiat was depressing. Can't say I'm surprised the pigs left the dead fetus guys to their own devices but had a problem with the congresswoman sitting there.
