I've always been against this but now that the major sports have all embraced betting, let him back in.

Keep him out solely due to his stupid haircut he's always had. Seriously, does Pete Rose even own a mirror???

He can go into the Hall if he can give Mario Soto his arm back

How long until the robot umpires strike for not being allowed to hunt for Sarah Connor during the seventh inning stretch?

Put him in the hall, but not until after he's dead so he can't give a speech and won't have any satisfaction of being in it

it's not really about the betting. it's about lying, lack of contrition, and only really showing (feigning) remorse when he realized that MLB was super-duper serial about the lifetimeness of his ban. that he is a trash person who almost certainly diddled kids is just icing on his shiattiness.

i'd tolerate that.

Again, it's stupid to bring this up because any player will still get kicked out of baseball for gambling on games. No matter how cozy the teams are with betting sites/casinos now

If they reinstate Pete, may as well reinstate Shoeless Joe as well.  Conversely, if they don't, ban the Astros.  Cheating like that shouldn't be acceptable.

Do you honestly not see a difference between cheating and betting on games? Or to you is any violation of the rules the same and therefore they all need to be punished the same?

This but only as a player , make no mention of his managerial career.

well, yeah. it's hard to punish those who don't get caught.

Right?

"Well your honor, my client shouldn't be punished for stealing the orphanages fundraising money because other people theoretically steal and don't get caught"

Integrity is questioned with both.

ANY violation is questions integrity so you must seriously think they must all be the same.

A batter with a corked bat should be tossed for life. A player that intentionally drops a fly ball needs to be kicked out of the game forever. A runner that leaves the bag before a fly ball is caught should never step foot inside a stadium again. Batting out of order? Throw out the manager and BOTH batters. Make the owner sell. Brilliant.

The day they reinstate Pete Rose is the day Major League Baseball dies. It might hang around for a few more years but if they sign off on game fixing, which is what he did, it's a corpse looking for a hole to fall into.
