Why would anyone add sugar to sangria? There's enough in the fruit.

I'm not a fan of white wine at all, and that's the only thing I do w/ the handful of leftover bottles I get after parties. It's still not as good as certain red/rose sangria, but it's better than straight up.

Until I read TFA, I hadn't realized that sangria was a big deal at the 1964-1965 Worlds Fair.  At first, I was surprised to learn about that,  then I realized that I was 15 when I was working there.  I did know about Belgian waffles.

If you get stuck with a bottle of nasty sweet red, add ice and a splash of oj to each glass.  Very drinkable instant sangria.  Watching Jodoroski's "Santa Sangre" optional.
