This is literally the only way short of impeaching judges that any actual justice will be served, because it is abundantly clear and obvious that the SQOTUS is on track to take the US back to the 1950s.  I swear they would bring back Jim Crow, make all non-native Americans 3/5ths of a human, and take away women's right to vote too, if they thought they could get away with it.

This is the most corrupt and illegitimate court the US has ever had, and something desperately needs to be done, and bloody well soon, if the US us to have any chance of saving itself.

For the people who are against doing this because, well, let's not assign motives no matter how obvious they are, I would suggest going back to civics class and learning about how the three branches of government work. When you do that, let's take this little quiz. It shouldn't be too hard, it's fill-in-the-blank, an old elementary school style quiz so it matches your learning:

The three branches of government are coequal so each can provide checks & ________ on the other branches.

So...take that concept and _______ the court.

Fill in the blanks.

I don't like packing the court because at the next election more get added and more and more and eventually everyone is a supreme court justice.

Get rid of lifetime appointments and let each president have their choice of some number so there is a rotation. First in, first out.  Get politics out of courts and get money out of our elections.  Legalized bribery is still bribery.

not voting on Garland was unconstitutional.  The Senate's job is to consent or not.  Doing nothing is not an option.  It was an abuse of power that should have elicited swift and severe action.

There's a non-political rationale for increasing the number of justices, and it's been used in the past.  The number of Justices ought to equal the number of district courts.  That's not political.  It means better representation (not in the legislator sense) of the American People on the highest court.  It means each Associate Justice only has one district to look after, which is more efficient.

So don't pack the courts, that's a political bullshiat move.  Increase the number of justices because it's the smart and right thing to do.

The notion of "states rights" here is disingenuous like every other Republican position. I fully expect that, at the very first opportunity, there will be attempts to pass a federal law banning abortion nation-wide. SQOTUS will uphold that federal ban by completely ignoring/reversing the "reasoning" they just made up. Again, it'll be 6-3.

I heard an interesting idea that involved having a larger pool of judges with 10 yr. term limits. Not all justices would rule on a case, that way think tanks would have a harder time crafting cases that are tailored to the ideology of the court as you don't know who will be ruling on cases.

The symbiosis of dark money for McConnell and the creation of the 1950s version of the Catholic Legion of Decency/Father Coughlin court is now complete.   Every cradle Catholic of a certain age recognizes this, even though Citizen's United as naturally vague as to agenda.

Too bad the Evangelicals, as weird and disorganized as they are, got played by a much wealthier and disciplined fellow conspirator, unless they were looking for seven  Catholics on the court, and one Jew left as of noon today.

Wait a minute...

I think you just figured out a plan to restore Democracy in the United States. If we add roughly 258.3 million seats, making every adult in the US a Supreme Court Justice, we'll actually have democratic representation in the Judicial Branch.

Someone go start a petition on Change.org, we've just figured out a way to save the Republic.

I've been told that SCOTUS Justices don't "preside" over Circuits the way they used to. The only reason to have an equivalent number of both is to have one fewer number to remember.

Pack the Courts for the same reason FDR did - because the Court is ruling in ways detrimental to the Republic, and because it was specifically gamed into being unbalanced.

// saw an old RT today (from 2018): Democratic Senates have confirmed 6 Republican SCOTUS nominees, Republican Senates have confirmed ZERO Democratic nominees; 5 Republican nominees (including Scalia, who'd just died) have been confirmed unanimously (0 Dem votes against), while ZERO Democratic nominees have been
