I can't help wondering if he would be making so bold a statement if he were running for reelection.

Worse, actually, she's supporting this crap out of self interest. She's counting on a pay day, not out of sincere belief, she's still just a sh*tty actress playing a role that she was given, and she's delivering lines from a script. And too damn stupid to be able to tell how this sort of play ends for folks like her.

2022-06-30 5:41:08 AM
That's the question, though -- do you think she's self-aware enough to realize in her perfect dream world she wouldn't be a congresswoman or even out there yapping on TV.

Or does she think she'll be "one of the good ones?"

This is political tabloid journalism.

Where are the articles on her Democrat challengers.

2022-06-30 7:28:02 AM
One elected Republican sees it. If shame and embarrassment were still a thing on the right, something like this statement would give me hope.

He meant it as a compliment.

FTFAIn a speech Sunday at a Christian center in Basalt, Colorado, Boebert said she was "tired of this separation of church and state junk... The government is not supposed to direct the church. That is not how our Founding Fathers intended it," she argued.

The mindless audacity of this deeply ignorant high school GED holder lecturing ANYONE about the constitution or our government is absolutely breathtaking.

Seriously, f*ck EVERYONE who elevated this bitter, small-town sh*tbilly to a position of political power. In a more just world she'd still be anonymously riding shotgun in various pickup trucks around rural Colorado, drinking beers and providing handjobs.

Boebert brings out the Holy Spirit from those Christians around her.  And by Holy Spirit I mean bloody diarrhea.

If we have to lose control over our country can it at least not be to the dumbest people on the goddamn planet?

2022-06-30 7:37:04 AM
I love all of the comments pointing to middle eastern countries as examples where there is not separation between state and religion. Vaguely racist and/or ethnocentric, perhaps? England has a state religion, why isn't that used as an example?

Lindseys Lil Ladybugs: If we have to lose control over our country can it at least not be to the dumbest people on the goddamn planet?

Unfortunately it doesn't matter if they're the dumbest people.  They still act.

It's kind of like how there's an argument that intelligence isn't necessarily an evolutionary winner.

She is a theocrat doing her little cutie pie guns, babies and bibles schtick looking like a shocked squirrel. I don't think she actually believes a word she is saying but like a televangelist she knows the crap she pumps out generates donations. She is fundamentally unfit for any governmental job

Didn't I hear the actual Taliban isn't anti-abortion?

2022-06-30 7:43:05 AM
Go ahead. Tell me again how all religion is the same.
F*cking idiots. The reason the authoritarian christian morons keep winning is because their opponents are more interested in being right than they are in making alliances and building an actual coalition that can stop theocracy before it gets worse.
But nope. Y'all want perfection, not success. I dunno. Maybe once the smarmy assholes get scooped up by the church police the survivors will be willing to listen.

Possibly because England is not an oppressive theocracy?

Having a state religion, as stupid and regressive as that is, and allowing that church to direct your government, are two rather different things are they not? That would seem to be the point of Kinzinger's comparisons.

This is an easy one.  She thinks she will be treated differently, because she is on their side.
Justice Thomas is another perfect example of this kind of thing.

I hope that this doesn't strike the wrong chord, but if there were a proper analogy for what these people are, you pretty much have to look at Samuel L Jackson's character in Jango Unchained.

In short, his character was one who cozied up to the very people that were oppressing everyone else.  He got special treatment because of it.

Or, so I'm not mincing words.  In that film, the "oppressed" people were slaves.

She's a grifter. The people who go out to vote for her in a primary are the Taliban. No need to modify it to "Christian Taliban" either. They're the same people.

Because the "state religion" of England is so neutered and restricted of power in the government that it is essentially nothing more than a local rental hall for gatherings and a drop-off for used coats for charity.

It's not racist, it's fact. The aggressively conservative groups in power in much of the middle east enforce that power on it's citizens, doing things like murdering women for tempting men by not being covered up enough. The Church of England can barely get enough people together at any time for a neighborhood bake sale.

TwowheelinTim: I can't help wondering if he would be making so bold a statement if he were running for reelection.

That's the infuriating part. I'll bet a lot of Republican politicians share this sentiment but won't say it because it would damage their political career. It's like they don't realize that if they keep propping up people like Boebert they're more likely to get killed by Oathkeepers than become a powerful political player.

I prefer the term Christofascist. But the name is irrelevant until liberals act to defend secular democracy.

The UK is not a shining beacon of liberty.   For instance their freedom speech rights suck.  In the US we can say that SCOTUS' recent decision suck terribly.  The UK doesn't allow that, because their free speech law says they can't speak against "maintaining the authority and impartiality of the judiciary"

As for Freedom of Religion in the UK, what could go wrong?

Not just the liberals. Our country as a whole needs to stop assuming that Christianity is inherently good.
Our society has a massive blind spot when it comes to anything with a cross.

Sorry, the founders, in their infinite wisdom, decided that the only restrictions to running the country should be age, residency, and getting a bunch of idiots to vote for you. Actual ability wasn't considered important.

That goofy guy from Missouri that always stands behind McConnell at press conferences is not running for re-election.

And he came out in FAVOR of gun restriction bills.

So, yeah, you're right.

Saying that and running for reelection would be an irresponsible waste of money. Sure, we'd prefer Republicans waste their money but a Republican obviously wouldn't.

Pronounced NAHFF-see... A lot like NAHT-zee, and not by coincidence.

Because the Church of England doesn't constantly intervene in the government and try to make its morals the laws of the land.
