The Left in America is tired.  So farking tired.

Roe v Wade got thrown into a wood chipper last Friday, and what was the response for the so-called Summer of Rage?

A few skirmishes in the streets.  No mass protests.  No general strike.

Conscientious Americans are traumatized to the point of stupor.  4 years of a total farkup in the White House, an international plague, an attempted coup, punishing inflation, and civil rights rollbacks have crushed the Left's spirit.

What a nightmare.

I am horrified by the reality that Donald Trump has turned out to be the most consequential president of my lifetime. His three Injustices are ripping apart stare decisis to enact a radical, far-right agenda and ignite the final immolation of our republic.

Back in the day, Republicans used to yammer on and on about individual rights and government overreach, yet here they are trying to control what we read, what we think, and how we love, and inserting themselves between women and their doctors.

Remember when right-wingers used to complain about "activist judges legislating from the bench"? I sure do. Good times, good times.

This is 100% consistent with the only belief of conservatism. Per Frank Wilhoit, that there must be a ruling class that the law protects but does not bind and a peasant class that the law binds but does not protect.

If you are a victim of ineffective counsel, obviously you are not part of the ruling class and so the GQP just wants you to either die or submit to the will of your superiors, whichever is more convenient.

At some point, there WILL come a "yeah, we're going to revisit the corrupt Roberts court's decisions with a critical eye" time, because this farking lunacy cannot go on.

I'm out of shape, past my prime, and untrained in any kind of serious martial art.

If SEALs drank my beer, I don't think I could kick their asses, but I could and would rip an onion fart bad enough the government would probably have to issue purple hearts.

All these cases coming up in quick succession... Does the supreme court always have cases like this in front of it, or is it that once they had the 6-3 majority the low level GOP grunts, lawyers and politicians, knew now is the time to actively push and try these cases and get them pushed up the ladder to the Supreme Court?

It's been 20 years of constant defeat for the actual left. Bush vs. Gore, Iraq war, 2008 bailouts and crushing of occupy protests, then the Trump presidency and despite BLM protest, extremely minimal police reform in a few places.

Polls say people want universal healthcare and to regulate greenhouse emissions and lots of nice things, but either Americans don't vote for nice things or those votes get drowned by the anti-democratic Senate (in the sense of actively not representing the majority of the country, no matter what party controls it).

What is the left supposed to do? Who is really the left? Most Americans seem to think a president who opposes universal healthcare is already left enough - most Democrats seem to think so, they voted for him in the primary over Bernie or Warren or anyone slightly left wing. What left? The powerless progressives who get outvoted by "centrists" like my brother who said "I'm glad they'll never pass the BBB, we just need the infrastructure bill, the BBB is too radical"?

People say they want a pony but vote like they'd want it to be sent to a glue factory.

The Senate's structure along with the Filibuster are what has disenchanted most of the left with politics. Add in heavy disenfranchisement and gerrymandering by the GOP in any state they get control of (the Dems gerrymander too, but at least they don't disenfranchise as much) to get a very low turnout of voters for the left. The GOP will vote for their club of crazy every time and view it as a duty, even if they are losing they can stick it to the liberals at least. Then lets not forget racism, which is supported by both sides by inaction on combatting it inn any fashion, effecting liberal voters disproportionally. Hard to get to the polls when you can only find a house in the "bad" part of town that also has no infrastructure, jobs, bus stops, or polling places.

/explains the hatred for mail in ballots, doesn't it?

If they keep on this roll I worry about their personal safety. Seriously, Americans do not like having their rights taken away and are over armed nut jobs that attacked their own capitol building while chanting to hang their own vice president just over 18 months ago. Just because it is in the Bible doesn't make it right. Getting a conservative "christian" to understand that or any actual content from the Bible that doesn't fit what their preacher and favorite far-right news host tells them it does is the impossible part.

As I said in another thread, though-

This is violence.

This is, 100%, violence against anyone with even the potential to get pregnant. This is a terrorism campaign.

React to that how you will, but know that one side has already decided to start being violent.

6 Justices gave their approval for the violence to begin, and thousands of people are enacting it.

Just because it's being done under the color of the state doesn't mean it's not violence.

But the Democratic candidates were so uninspiring...

Sadly, the GOP thought they were losing, up until Trump won and they kept the Senate and the House (in 2016).

We were in a public water park in Springfield Missouri yesterday.

At about 4pm, there was an explosion sound nearby. Maybe within a mile.
Remember, this is the weekend before the 4th of July.

Within 10 minutes, the lifeguards had emptied the entire pool of guests and ushered us into a cinder bloc changing area, and dead bolted the front door.

They had received a phone call that it "may have been a gunshot" and that the police would come around and let us know when it was safe to leave the building.

What The Actual Fahk.

60 strangers locked into a poorly ventilated, non air conditioned building until some cop gets around and lets everyone know it's safe to go outside.

Think about that. Republicans are ok with unjust imprisonment of American citizens without due process because 1 guy with a constitutionally protected firearm might have fired one gunshot.

Republicans are the snowflakes ruining America. Because they are too afraid of one interpretation of the second amendment, 60 Americans might be sharing Covid.

They'll be perfectly happy to bring the three remaining liberal-ish Supremes to "justice," I'm sure.

The one and only thing that will make those militias even happier than they are now would be if they were tapped to become a paramilitary adjunct to law enforcement.
