It took HOW long to figure this out?

Now explain to everyone why it's ok for US corporations to harvest data to that degree.

2022-06-29 11:49:29 AM
it's pretty simple. US companies collect data for capitalism, which is great and good. Chinese companies collect data for communism, which is bad.

I would say most apps pose a serious security risk, especially in a post Roe world. We're about to enter a time where every blood red state prosecutor can subpoena your -formerly- private information to use against you for such crimes as thinking your Uterus is your own, or bring attracted to the same sex.

So why does the Senior Republican on the FCC have such a hard-on for a silly video app? Mostly because TikTok teens Tanked Trump's Tulsa rally by reserving all the tickets and not showing:

Trump is an incompetent wannabe dictator, but Boy can be hold a grudge.

Isn't this literally why Trump was trying to get an American company to buy TikTok?

Is this now a better idea? Why is this being received better now?

\I've been pro full ban of Facebook, Instagram, MySpace, Snapchat, TikTok etc since their inception

Doubly so when US corporations can be bought by foreign corporations.

If only there were some kind of legislation (enforced!) that dictated what private companies could do with your data.

I'm sure some other country or countries must've thought of something by now.  Maybe we could crib notes.

Who then sell that data to US companies, which is good

Plainly, as information can be sent through intermediaries and so you simply can't restrict where it can be sent, there needs to be legislation to limit the data that companies are allowed to gather about you, unless you expressly allow them to. The default position should be 'no'. They also should not be allowed to restrict your access to websites or services if you withhold that permission, either.

Damn, it's like the health benefits of coffee.

Is it good or is it bad?

i like that "We the people" apparently act as if we have no power at all to take any aciton on what we know to be going on.
Instead we just, without making direct eye contact , glance nervously at our Corporate Silver backs and wonder if they will do anything?

They care about the data to potentially exert leverage against some citizens at some indeterminate point in the future....otherwise, it's all data being fed to their AI databases. They will make the great AI leaps, and they'll do it with the data we willingly supplied to them...

I hope he used the Cognitive Dissonance font for the TWEET warning of the dangers of TikTok.

TikTok skips the middleman in this case, and gives user data to Beijing directly.

A certain sex app is now owned by a Chinese company. Though I'm not sure it's mainland but honestly don't know if that makes a difference now and especially when WHINNIE invades.

Read the headline 3 times thinking "what a mangled headline."

My brain kept thinking subby was trying to write "possess".
