Was a perfect movie for the time and the two of them made a couple of, I thought, really fun buddy/comedy movies. Then, Jon Favraeu grew up and became the amazing force he is today. The other guy, not so much.

So someone watched the movie with the commentary track on and wrote an article about it?

Also,
"Trent's license plate is THC 1138. This is, as most sci-fi fans likely know, the name of George Lucas' first film. "

Favreau shouted out his influences
Years after "Swingers" came out, Favreau said that he was inspired by Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese, and Kevin Smith. It's not hard to tell that Favreau was a fan of at least two of those directors. You can see posters for "Reservoir Dogs" and "Taxi Driver" in the movie.

They literally recreated the diner scene and the walking scene as a gag in the movie.

For its time and place, it was great.  I still occasionally tell someone at work when they're complaining "hey, you're a big winner.  You're a big winner in more ways than one."  I don't think anyone has ever known what i'm talking about, though.

And it actually puts me in a better mood, and I have to laugh.

No worse than Ross in Friends. I like Swingers. The episode in Friends where they take Ross to the hockey game made me hate Ross for the rest of the series. Also, this is the most 90's comment ever.

It's very, very, very painful. You want to reach through the screen and be like, "Dude, no, stop."

And yet, at least to me, it's painful because I could see younger me doing it.

FTA:"Favreau and Heather Graham - who played Lorraine - practiced their dance at Graham's house for a month."

This just sounds like an excuse to go over to Heather Graham's house for a month straight. Which I totally understand.

Oh, and I must always tell a CSB about Swingers.

My Comms 201 professor showed it to the class and asked us to study the screenplay as an example of a story that was character-driven rather than event-driven (or plot-driven). The theory being that character-driven stories are usually better.

Basically, one character starts low and ends high while the other character starts high and ends low.

wee: I am also glad the swing band thing is over.

I've never quite understood what some people had against the swing revival.

Tip to guys: That whole thing about women loving guys who can dance is not a misnomer. I outkicked my coverage like Sebastian Janikowski in Denver with a tailwind.

Granted, even those who stuck with swing dancing beyond the revival years (as I did, active on the scene from 2001 to 2015 or so and I still go out on occasion) didn't particularly care for the neo swing stuff, which was kind of just ska with a slightly more old-school bent. But in the grand scheme of music trends that came and went, I think we can and did much worse.

Pfighting Polish: wee: I am also glad the swing band thing is over.

I LOVED the swing revival in high school and college.

When you're at a party or some club, "dancing" seems to be going out on the floor and randomly moving your body about. (I'm sure there are many funny YouTube videos about "white guy dancing.") There are no defined rules or movements. I was terrible.

But I kicked ass at swing dancing because I could learn a bunch of specific moves and had a blast. Why isn't more "dancing" like that?

Great concept, terribly edited. The game magically goes from the third period to the second period and you can hear Trent start to say "Score Chicago" in one cut before he scores later.

I can get past it though to enjoy the general concept.
