I don't even want "firsts" at Olive Garden.

The Olive Garden food sucks, I've never eaten there.

Here's my thing -- pasta is great. But do you really need to stuff your fat farking face with more than one plate of it? Even if you're just "sampling" like a quarter of each dish... it's still Olive Garden trash.

It's an American-based restaurant chain, so the answer to that is yes -- people need to stuff their fat f*cking faces.  If they couldn't, they'd probably go to Golden Corral instead, or any of the other stuff-your-face-until-you-pop restaurants that Americans seem to love so much.

Are you kidding?!  Every time my family from Italy came to visit, I took them the Olive Garden!  They haven't visited me in five years.  Good riddance to those GD freeloaders.

I thought the stuff your face places were what made America great...it's not Africa or anything.
/Loves olive garden.

But it appeals to enough people.

I don't know if they could do something like only offer it on their slow days, so it only slows them down on the days when  they're trying to break even / not lose too much on their fixed costs, and then turn the tables faster on the days that they're more profitable.

we're supposed to have dinner tonight with the friend who possesses every GI illness under the sun. so there's not much she can eat without suffering. lately she's been on a garden of olives kick, but I managed to put in a plea for las margaritas (which she can also somewhat tolerate, and which has surprisingly decent rellenos) - yay!

bonus sadness level: every dish which is supposed to come with guacamole, now does not. excepting the overpriced tableside guacamole service - boo!

But I would say Baker is right about a good portion of the populace.  The worst I saw was when I stopped in at Hardee's during their all-you-can-eat biscuit and gravy for something ridiculous like $3.  You could only get one at a time, though.  The place was filled with these absolute leviathans who would suck down their biscuit, shamble to the counter like some twisted Night of the Living Dead remake for another one.  Then, return to their seat only to repeat the cycle for what I can only guess is hours.  I haven't been back since.  /CSB

The local Chinese buffet had crab legs back in the day. Once was enough. Oddly though some of the best wings I've ever had.

So 70% of Americans range anywhere from overweight to morbidly obese, and it's a blanket, douchey statement to state that people stuff their fat f*cking faces at places like Olive Garden?

Hate to tell you, but obesity is the norm in this country now (and most other developed countries, too), and has been for decades.  If you take offense to that, it probably says more about you than it does about me.

"obesity is the norm in this country now (and most other developed countries, too), and has been for decades. If "

Centuries on this planet. It's a natural survival mechanism. And a veggie pasta store is the kind of place where you want all you can eat versus a meataterian pay by the hour hut.

When I was in high school, their all you can eat pasta was just the thing to eat the night before a big mountain bike race. 1 once ate 13 bowls, and dessert.

Haha right?

Some of the best wings I've ever eaten were from this hole in the wall, Americanized Chinese takeout + wings mashup shop. Run by a Korean family.

And...now that I think about it, every place I've eaten that had chicken cooked so perfectly that it could only be explained by the dark arts was either a Korean restaurant or had Korean owners.
