How does Barrister Paris Dean not already have a career in pornography?  He already has a loose interpretation of the rules, put that dude in a porn sandbox and let him play!

I grew up in a tiny house built in 1864. A toilet at some point was built into a tiny kitchen alcove that was probably the pantry previously. Some visitors loved it saying little kids or anyone could run into the house and do their business without running to our only full bathroom on the second floor. Others thought we spent our lives pooping and eating next to the kitchen table.

Oh my home State.

Now I have not read the article yet, only looked at the picture, but I have lived by myself for years and there have been times when I moved my bed into the main room, (you know where most people have a dinner table, couch and tv) I actually laughed and giggled at the pic.  Why not?

It is O'Connell Street - which is in the top 5 locally.  But over priced.

I'm all for building codes when it's about whether you'll get electrocuted or the building will fall over. But if I want a perspex shiatting cube in my kitchen, why not? No one is being forced to live there, right? It's 25m^2. You do what you can with the space you've got. Imagine how easy that bathroom would be to clean! Handheld shower nozzle and DONE!

You don't need building codes to keep people from putting a toilet in the kitchen. Everyone can see it's a stupid idea. Good luck selling or renting the place.

I've had a shower in the kitchen in one place. Very convenient to boil pasta while I'm in the shower. Lean out and stir every few mins

As I sit in my 59m2 (590 sq ft) apartment, I wonder what you consider is a coffin-sized apartment?...

Stuff like this is why we need a tab with titillating images and videos on it here at fark so we can discuss whether or not we would tap that and whether or not a pictured pretty person has overly sharp knees.  We could call it boobies or something.

Maybe in keeping with the "fark" theme, we could replace the first "B" with an "F" instead?

My mother's parents farmhouse had the new fangled indoor "plumbing" in what had been the pantry off the kitchen. They even replaced the half-door with a full-sized one!  Grampa was still exiled to the outhouse if he wanted to smoke one of his stale cigars. Stale cigars were much cheaper and Grampa was nothing if not cheap.

One of my uncles lived in a trailer so narrow, you could sit on the toilet, stick your head out of the bathroom and look down the hallway to keep watching TV. Oddly enough, he was also my only relative over 6 feet tall.

IIRC, the house we lived in when I was a little kid was a 1940s/1950s design and had a half bath right off the kitchen. It wasn't in a little acrylic cubby though.

I stayed as a guest in an apartment in SF that had the bathroom off the kitchen built under the stairwell. Fortunately I was short enough to fit under the shower head. The "bedroom" was the windows sticking out of the front with a privacy screen.

Nothing really. Apparently the bathroom is an issue for these people. But that's what it is; a bathroom. The walls run floor to ceiling. The onoy difference between this and a bathroom eight off the kitchen, as there are in a lot of houses, is that the walls to the bathroom are glass.

Otherwise, this is just a bathroom, and yes, it obviously meets code. I think it's weird, but that's because I don't like to be on display when I poop.

I have a nice, sizeable house, and there's a little bathroom attached to the kitchen. The toilet is maybe 10 feet from the stove. Although, its behind a door, and there's an archway and a little alcove where the doors to the shiatter, laundry room, and bathroom are, but a bad dump will still stink up the whole kitchen.
