Thank Manchin and Sinema along with all republicans for making this possible. They all voted against voting rights protections earlier this year that would have prevented this from mattering.

Man, these guys are moving fast. No wonder they wanted extra security.

The GOP has been waiting for a long time for these opportunities. Damn right they're going to take advantage now.  They've played the long game and cut off every avenue of redress, while the Democrats sat there compromising and navel-gazing.

It's not going to get better, y'all.  Gilead is on the way.

Is Susan Collins concerned yet?

Sooo, while we were distracted by the surprise session of the Jan6th hearings, the SCOTUS went ahead and whittled a few more rights away.

Man, f*ck these people.    What else needs to be said?

Time to get to work. Dem control is improbable, but not impossible.

Not really. It has never been approved by Congress. It would likely generate alternate electors being sent to the EC when the opposite party is in charge of the state, and just imagine the arguments about 1/6 then.

The Court is going to immediately overturn anything Congress passes which helps people anymore.

We're reaching the end game.

Congress doesn't get a say in what states do re: their Presidential elections. If enough states agree, Congress would probably have to get into the Amendment game if they didn't want Electors to be bound to do such a thing.

A year of work proving Louisiana's congressional map discriminates against Black voters. A 152-page district court opinion finding discrimination, upheld in a 33-page opinion by the most conservative federal court in the nation. Taken away by 6 justices in an act of raw power. https://t.co/PhJ9iROha1

Gerrymandering is one of those things I learned was wrong way back in junior high (as it was called). Racism was wrong. Slavery was wrong. It was a long list. No wonder the GOP is working so hard to make sure today's kids never learn that stuff.

Donald Trump shouldn't be allowed to pick three sides in a KFC Family Meal, and the motherfarker got to pick three Supreme Court Justices.

(Yeah, I know, it was the Federalist Society and Mitch McConnell, because if it had been Trump the three would have been Ivanka, Jeanne Pirro, and Vince McMahon in a referee shirt.)

Hoping to exit the country as soon as practicable.  I will continue to vote as an expat, but as am registered to vote in a blood red congressional district full of fucking morons, my vote matters little. My treasonous congressman voted to overturn the results of the 2020 election, with the nearly full support of his toothless, poverty-stricken contituents.

This Kangaroo Supreme court is trying to get them there as fast as possible.

TFG did say there was a second amendment solution to people he didn't like.  And the supreme court obviously wants more guns on the streets.  So, why do they get more protection than common folks?

2022-06-28 5:58:35 PM
This court has no moral or political legitimacy.  Three of the majority were named by a conspirator against the United States, aided into office by a criminal conspiracy involving a hostile foreign power, and confirmed by members of the political party who aided his coup attempt at every level.  His very first consequential act as a president was to obstruct justice, and his party has acted like an organized crime family to shield him at every step of the way from legal or even political accountability.

This is a tainted court, built by a criminal, confirmed by conspirators and who act as partisans to bolster the criminals who confirmed them.

It needs to be re-built.  It is an abomination that ANY legal body would be so constructed.

2022-06-28 6:00:08 PM
All of you unicorn wishers who thought we could just pack the court are living in a dream world. I have the much more realistic plan of kidnapping millions of liberals and relocating them to counties without internet or cellphone service and making them live there forever. This will solve things once and for all!

Well, those Democrats not named Manchin, nor Senator Joe Biden in 2006: "I do not view abortion as a choice and a right. I think it's always a tragedy, and I think that it should be rare and safe, and I think we should be focusing on how to limit the number of abortions. And there ought to be able to have a common ground and consensus as to do that", nor any other Democratic Party conservative who hides their glee behind the "D" next to their name.

/We need to find a way to get not just more Democratic Party politicians to fight against Republicans to try to get Abortion Rights and other rights back, but we have to filter them and get ones that are BETTER than the majority of what we currently have

If 2022 isn't blue we are truly doomed! We cannot allow insurrectionists to control the government and sweep their sedition under the rug. Americans have to see the mass reduction in their rights as
A huge threat, right? Right?!?

Yes, this is the second coup. It is the reason that Trump was so keen to get any case to the Supreme Court. They are entirely compromised and will vote for whatever destroys democracy the quickest.

Also, if you think voting is going to matter much into the future, you have these cases coming up. Soon who certifies the vote will simply declare which votes will be counted. It is enacted as law in many red areas and I don't put it past the SC to side with "StaTEs RiGhTS"!!

The slowly stage started in the 80s. We're at the quickly stage now.

I would say, "I wonder what all those assholes who didn't bother voting in 2016 are thinking right now," but that's dumb.

Most of them are still oblivious.

According to them and some idiots here on Fark, voting is useless and does no good at all, which is why the Republicans have worked so hard for decades to keep black people from doing it.

That's how you know that something isn't important: when Republicans make a huge effort to stop it, even going so far as to commit election fraud and possibly treason.
