I'm not a Darkness fan, but I just love Justin Hawkins' channel. He's always fun, clearly loves music, has some great stories about being in the biz, and despite some very clickbaity titles (the only real criticism I have of his channel), his main goal seems to be to celebrate music, musicians, and the love of performing. He's good vibes all around and seems like a really likeable guy. Music commentary needs more like him.

I don't know, he sure doesn't sound as good as he did back in the day, it's kind of painful to hear. I never thought he had a wonderful voice but he was passable and you could tell it was him, you know, like Bob Dylan but that didn't sound like Axel Rose. At least not a vocally healthy Axel Rose. I'm not a singer or singing coach so I don't know how to describe the "off" I hear or what he needs to do to fix/improve things.
It was funny, he was talking about Axel's 'signature dance move' when it was Davy Jones of The Monkees' signature dance move decades before.

He's singing high and clean. If he brought in rasp, people wouldn't be complaining. I think he might've injured himself going full-rasp on the AC/DC dates and the initial GNR reunion legs and the AC/DC dates that were pretty much stacked up back to back. When GNR came back for the first reunion arena run he was already backing off it but I believe he has been going the high/clean ("Mickey") route for most of the shows thereafter. This is a preservation move. The fact he can reach high with as much consistency points to training and care, but GNR fans want to hear the raspy Axl they first heard in the 80s.
