I like his takes, politically, but I can't imagine Ron is much fun to be around.

He strikes me as intense.

Yeappers, I think you are right about the intensity.

Or he is about to feast.

Saw him at a Comicon several years back.  Seemed like he could be intense, but for the most part was down to Earth and laid back. At his table he was willing to chat with fans who weren't buying autographs, and LittleLoki, extremely shy around strangers, even warmed up to him.

Caught the Q&A session, too, and despite having trouble not cursing, seemed like a pretty chill guy, until you got him talking about political or social issues.

Scrolled down and saw his former wife...

Apparently she had a really good lawyer too, if the terms of their divorce are any indication.

She's his age. Are you really shocked how 71 year old women aren't as attractive as women in their 40s?

yeah it's only decent to set up the mother of his children first if he's going to go off chasing girls in his old age. he seems very happy with the trade. and if i had legs like hers i would wear skirts too.

His head looks like one of those "square" gallon milk jugs that Costco sells.

Once, me and my wife, and then Ron Perlman and his (now ex) wife were the only ones in the whole restaurant.  Chinois, in Santa Monica.   He was clearly a regular as the host knew him well.   Ate a whole fancy meal, a mere 15 fee from greatness.

At one point, he got up to smoke a cigar outside, and my wife had to use all her might from preventing me from following him and try to chat him up.

To me, he's one of those gentle giant guys...He played some imposing characters in his career, but from what i read, he just seems like a sweet man.  He's taken the roles that were offered, and put a performance into them.

The other possibility is that he was generous in his terms. Not everybody is nasty when it comes to divorce. I'm not saying he was, but I don't like the automatic assumption that he fought her on this.

/I could probably find out if I cared to read all the gossip blogs

This.

I recall, during an afore mentioned Q&A session, he made a comment about how he almost never turns down a role, and then referred to the catalog of films he has been in as evidence...

Basically, there are certain roles and films he particularly loves (Hell Boy, for example), but he also acknowledges that acting is his job, and he tries to put in a good performance no matter the role.

I love his Hellboy and i love his Clay Morrow (Sons of Anarchy).  2 opposite sides of the spectrum.  One guy is giving, transparent, altruistic, the other is guy is selfish, shady, and diabolical.

There's a cool story where some really sick kid in the hospital, had a Make a Wish Foundation wish to meet his hero, Hellboy.  Perlman agreed to don the 6 hours of makeup once again to make this kid's day... Mind you, this was like 10 years after Hellboy 2, so he was already up there in age, and had let go of the character, long ago, but felt compelled to make a difference to this little kid..... Apparently Del Torro found out about it, and was so touched, and started exploring making Hellboy 3, but it fell apart for other reasons.
