I'd really prefer if the article had used a less ambiguous word than "capture" when referring to recording video of a rare species. I winced every time I read it, worrying that it would be a situation like the bowfishers who talk about all the "respect" they have for the huge, ancient, sometimes unusually colored fish they like to murder.

Fortunately it looks like the oarfish encountered some decent humans and is continuing to live its freakishly beautiful life.
