Oooooh, a dent.  That's not even top ten on the list of things the Cup has been through.

In the very unlikely event that someone from SportsCenter is reading this: adding a stupid sound to a video has not ever, nor will it ever make a video better.

It'll somehow be a bong by Friday because that's how we roll.

And then later needing to be fished out of the Colorado River.

Phil Pritchard probably has some stories to tell...

Unless you're adding Yakkity Sax. That makes all videos better.

Basically, yeah.

For example, here's what the Tampa Bay Lightning did to it last year.

/Jon Cooper wanted to protest about the Avs treatment of the Cup, but he missed it happening because he was complaining that the Avs had too many men on the ice during the Cup celebration

I feel like half the fun of watching the last games of the finals is keeping an eye out for the recognizable dudes with the hair who handle the Cup.

Because you could just wade in and grab it if they drop it in the South Platte.

I loved watching the on ice celebration last night. It was especially great seeing Peter McNabb on the AltitudeTV coverage. Listening to him talk about the encouragement he received from Landeskog during his cancer battle had me wiping tears out of my eyes. They are an easy team to be a fan of.

Gotta tip the cap to Tampa as well, that team has the heart of a champion.

It just needs to be handed to Pittsburgh every year from now until Sidney Crosby retires, so it can be treated better.

Me too. Do you also like to watch the Tour de France while drinking beer and eating junk food?  I'll be doing that starting next Friday.

To say I loathe the Avs is an understatement, but I watched the raising of the Cup because it's one of the best moments in sports and I was happy for the players.

There are THREE cups.  The 'original' one, One in the HHOF and the third for the 'use' of the players..

Wiki: There are actually three Stanley Cups: the original bowl of the "Dominion Hockey Challenge Cup", the authenticated "Presentation Cup", and the spelling-corrected "Permanent Cup" on display at the Hockey Hall of Fame whenever the Presentation Cup is not available.

Amusing.  Wilson, or whoever he has managing his brand, has been doing a bang-up job in Denver since the trade.  Very well thought out public appearances and social media management.

True.  But my fellow Seahawks fans and I knew that he "went Hollywood" years ago.

Seriously, are they brothers? They obviously have the same "barber".

It's always bugged me how they call it AltitudeTV instead of ElevationTV.

I mean, I don't lose sleep over it, but it just makes me feel smart and superior.

Phil! I couldn't recall his name. He was helping out at the Hockey Hall of Fame gift shop when we were there August 2007, handed my guy his photo of himself w/ the cup after it printed. Nice man! Handles effusive hockey fans well.

Phil seems to handle his fame well. I heard him speak during an event at the Pens/Caps outdoor game and it was pretty awesome to hear his stories. Spoke with him for several minutes afterward and he never seemed like he was in a rush to leave.  Maybe that's his Canadian coming out though.

More importantly, who watched Unrivaled tonight?

Holy hell that was a great time capsule

I'm saving it for when I have time to sit down w/ a nice meal & the partner (who has no attachment to either team or that period in hockey & Detroit history [tho I've already shown him my memorabilia a bazillion times b/c who doesn't like to see a goalie punching another goalie while laying on top of them in front of a team bench?]). I've promised not to talk during it, that'll be the real challenge.

The interviews and footage were incredible.  Holy hell, I miss hearing Gary Thorne doing hockey games!  I was bummed that they didn't go beyond the 1998 season though; they met in the 1999 semis which was a great series, and then both teams win another Cup as you get into 2001 and 2002.  Konstantinov was a compelling part of the story but they should have carried it further.

I haven't seen it yet, but I remember those series in 01 & 02. There was a playoff game in 2002 where Roy got pulled, b/c he stinks like a month-old shrimp taco, & when the replacement goalie stopped a shot on goal the Detroit crowd chanted, 'We want Roy! We want Roy!'.
Remember Scotty's long game move of sending a goalie stick that was out of regs to the Avalanche coach the previous year for his son, knowing the guy would try to use it against the Wings at some point & shoot himself in the foot?
