Welcome, creative Farkers, to the Fark Arting Thread!

Share artwork/creative projects past, present, and in progress, embracing all disciplines and various hobbies or crafts: cooking, baking, quilting, needlework, sculpting, drawing, painting, metalsmithing, woodworking, found art, digital, musical, and more. Anything creative you'd like to show off.

This is a community of inspiration, support, advice, ideas, and techniques. Even if you'd rather not submit anything, feel free to join the conversation. Anyone with experience in a specific discipline is more than welcome to share tips and tricks. This is a gallery, but also a place to talk shop.

If you offer advice or critique, please be kind.

Thank you!

Hello creative farkers. Not much visual art from me this week. These three were the only halfway decent ones. Pencil on paper.

I was turning a piece of curly maple and it had this cool stripe of spalting in it.  The plan was to dye it to enhance the curl but after finding this, I left it natural.

Florida Trail Found Footage - part 6 (recovered)
Youtube RQasnTmbcoo
I've released part 6 of my found footage series  (part 7 is done for next week). It's going so well on YouTube that we're doing some reshoots to finish the thing the way I really wanted to instead of just good enough.

This is all the warm up for the next film. It's amazing how much I've been learning by forcing myself into the deep end and just staying focused.

I started making rolling pins and realized I needed some way to display them at markets. So I built a bucket of of some old wine barrel stave ends. It turned out pretty good so I went ahead and built some more. Thinking about figuring out a way to line them so I can market them as wine bottle chillers.

Sweet.

I found this, https://www.knowwines.com/blog/wine-cooler-sleeves , though any thing of use there would likely require you to charge more. Perhaps there is something that could serve as a model for a homemade sleeve?

Thanks! I've been looking at sleeves similar to those and just need to do some more research. I used to work for a winery and still have a lot of contacts in the industry, so I plan on reaching out to some tasting room folks to get their opinions on chillers and find a good source to buy in bulk.

I've been experimenting with cutting the tops off of wine bottles and putting them in the buckets to use as vases. I may also try to market them as decorative buckets to hold spoons and spatulas and such on the kitchen counter.

I'll be working a big outdoor craft fair soon, so it will be interesting to get people's feedback on what, if anything, they want to use them for. Knowing the average customer, it's going to be something I never intended.

The latest drawing. I started out doing black and white drawings with pencil and charcoal. Now it's black and white with colored pencils. The hair came out pretty well.

A while back I challenged myself to a one stick cherry carport cradle. Not a nail in it, maple inlay.
