By September Dems will have a double digit lead in a generic ballot. Pick up 6 in the Senate and increase House majority

Generic ballots count for squat.  Let's see actual polling.

I think it's promising as a trend but individual race polling will be far more critical.

At least it's generic vs generic. The polling that is really worthless is "incumbent vs. generic opponent".

I've seen the Republican propaganda machine at work too many times to have any hope.

They'll manipulate public opinion like they always do and have it right where they want it by election day.

Still, a majority opposes expanding the number of justices who could sit on the Supreme Court.

Well it looks like there's more than just Farkers who are masochists in this country.

What's the big argument against doing this?

Because Republicans will do the same and next thing you know SCOTUS has 500 people?

I'm on the fence for this one.  Going to 13 to match the lower courts makes sense.  But I can see Mitch using it as justification to just keep going.  There's 50 states, why not 50 judges?

the big argument is that conservatives will will just do it themselves when back in power.

I would personally just prefer democrats go on an absolute offensive in campaigning against republicans.

Make sure americans know who republicans are.   Stop pretending they have some point.  they don't.  they are lying.... about al oat everything.

I don't believe a motherf*cking thing... show me numbers... show me organized phone banks... show me buses and individual people using their cars to bring people to vote.

Show me we are doing this together and we're going to f*ck those Nazis up.

Do not show me polls.

Go to 15 the number 13 just bothers some people. If there is the ability to fix the Court there is also the ability to restore voting rights and do away with gerrymandering. With free and fair elections with vote by mail the current breed of Republicans will never hold a majority again.  Republicans have only been able to get minority rule of the majority by lying, cheating and stealing so if the problems are fixed don't give a flying fark what republicans will do next time they are in control because it won't happen. Get a few more states to sign on to pledging electoral votes to the winner of the popular vote and republicans will not have any chance of winning the presidency. The aim is for representative democracy.

expanding the courts is of no benefit if the democrats can't keep control of the Senate and Presidency.

they have to win the elections.... they have to win decisively... and that is predicated on the america people understanding where the GOP is and where they are going.

The margin of error for the overall sample is 4.9 percentage points.

So a two point bump, that's what we're celebrating today? Well I guess we have this in the bag, then.

Or we're realistic. Polling had Lindsey Graham and Susan Collins losing their seats last time too. Just like 1/6, forgive us for not whipping it out and smacking everyone in the face until we see tangible results.

Except now that Roe has been overturned, the GOP may not be able to rely on the single-issue anti-abortionists to show up at all.  They've already won, so there's no reason for them to go vote.  On the other hand, SCOTUS may have just given a huge campaign talking point to democrats who can run on a "change the rules, kill the filibuster, pack the court" platform.

The obvious counter point, of course, is that it's June and the general election is still 134 days away and voters' memories are best measured with an egg timer.

No, they won't.  Polls are lies and do not, in the modern age, reflect how the mouth breathing fascists that make up the majority of the nation will behave when action is required.  Polls may say that Roe v Wade has popular support.  The votes for putting people into office reflect the exact opposite, and have for the last 12 years.

I'd say that Roe being overturned shows their voters that they'll get what they want if they keep showing up. Abortion isn't the last thing on the checklist. They'll pivot.

So it's about as bad as it gets from a scotus point of view now.  If you pack the court to rebalance it and then they come back and pack it to unbalance It you are Just back at square one.

Might as well Have a couple good years.

Yep. Polls like this don't reflect the way we vote for House and Senate seats, making them utterly useless for getting a sense for election results. They might give you a sense for the mood of the country, but that generally doesn't mean shiat.

Plus, it's not even mid-summer. While people SHOULDN'T simmer down and move on to the next thing before the election, this is America. It's what we do.

I don't have time for the one account that I do have.

Turn this around, imagine Republicans crowing about a 7% lead in a poll with a 5% MoE, months ahead of an election. You'd be laughing at them and you know it.

I get that people need their defense mechanisms. If this is what it takes to help you sleep at night, knock yourself out. But don't pretend it makes you smarter than everyone else.

So pass legislation requiring that the number of justices must be the same as the number of circuit courts, without specifying any numbers. That will leave it open to future change - but after matching the 13 circuits we have now, it will be much more cumbersome to do, in future.

They absolutely can and will continue to rely on it- in fact, it's a *huge* rallying point right now.  After decades of working patiently and voting in *every* *goddamn* *election* no matter how uninspired they were, they got Roe eliminated

But there are still states that allow abortion.  They need to flip those state legislatures, and they will for the purple states at some point when Democrats decide they just can't bother to show up for some election.  A national ban is next.  Plus, they can rely as well on fear of the homogays- overturning Obergefell will be another huge incentive for them to keep voting.

If you think Democrats are fired up about Roe, check with the anti-abortion folks.

Only if we push and keep working is it even plausible to hold seats and pick up one or two extra. That will be tough and require a LOT of work. The trick is DO NOT LET UP at all.
