IDC.  I made my own cinnamon rolls.  With regular and carolina reaper infused maple syrups.

When they switched cinnamon types, and stopped making the dough in-store, quality became shiat. Why would anyone by a Cinnabon today?

Never had a cinnabon, they look like something that would make my teeth instantly fall out.

If they really want to 'embrace the darkness', they'll get in on some marketing with the Better Call Saul folks over at AMC. (I hope i don't need to explain this).

There's a sign for Cinnabon along the I-5 between Salem and Portland and every time we drive by the sign, my wife mentions how it is mocking her.  I will never suggest we stop and get one.

Habit.  You are at an airport and have the choice of standing next to a Cinnabun for an hour without a cinnabun or breaking down and buying the Cinnabun.

Granted, that's the only time I buy cinnabuns.  I might have bought them at malls back in the day, but why would I be in a mall now?  Can't imagine driving specifically to buy a cinnabun, but somehow they stay in business.

Lots of connections to the criminal underworld. There's a documentary about it on AMC.

Given this timeline, I was expecting them to replace their frosting with mayo.

I've not had one in beyond-yonks, but growing up mid70s/early80s, the shopping mall in our sleepy rural village actually got a store. and for a very long time, it was the farking talk of the town!

there's likely equal parts cloudy nostalgia, childhood-me never being allowed sugar, and simply the novel rarity of the thing, but... back then those things were pretty damn farking tasty.
