OK - I understand the sentiment, but isn't giving people more money to spend kind of not the best way to limit inflation?

Or maybe to combat inflation, it's time to break out the guillotines?  It was perfectly legal in France.

You are absolutely correct. What the economy needs is elimination of the capital gains tax, and deregulation.

It's not socialism if it benefits me! This is what republicans think.

It's not regular people who have too much money during a recession or depression. Never has been.

Money from the taxes we overpaid on last year? Between CA state income tax and property taxes on my house $700 is a drop in the bucket.

Of corse it's also not really socialism if you have to give people tax money back.

It's amazing what kind of budget surpluses you can have when people aren't forced into debt slavery by forced birth.

The part where California props up the economies of all the welfare red states and leads the country on all technological fronts as compared to the idiot red states.

Let's see, a $100 billion budget surplus divided among 40 million people would be $2500. So ... thanks for the (up to) $350?

Notice that it's coming in October just to make sure the peons voters are in a good mood and return these dweebs to office.

If conservatives ever learn the basics of logic, like how to form a simple negation, then the world will be a better, or at least less noisy, place.

That's exactly how my brother-in-law describes California. He was born and raised in L.A., with his family still residing there. You'd think by his telling that the place resembled modern-day Venezuela.

Single filers who make $125,001 to $250,000 would get $200. Joint filers who make between $250,001 and $500,000 would receive $400. If they have at least one dependent, they will receive an additional $200.

Well, it's good that they're looking out for those poor families making a half million dollars per year.  Mustache wax and monocles have gotten expensive.

Only idiots discuss "solutions" that will "solve everything".

And at the end of the day, when it's all said and done, every single flag waving republican in California that knows what's best for America will refuse every single red cent, standing by their unwavering and deeply held principles surrounding working for what you get and no free handouts. Libs will be astonished and possibly even flabbergasted at this selfless patriotic sacrifice.

/And then everyone will clap.
//Then storm a capitol building.

No they won't. They'll stay here, take all the good things we give them, and then turn around and biatch about it, and do whatever they can to avoid contributing anything.

It's not regular people who have too much money during a recession or depression. Never has been.

But it is regular people who have too much money during inflation, and you can easily verify it by looking to see if products regular people buy are inflated or not. If shiat at Target costs more, it's a safe bet that it's not because Jeff Bezos is going Target to Target buying shiattily-made tchotchkes.

Single filers who make less than $75,000 would get $350.

This is a legally required tax rebate because California had a budget surplus that was too large.  Nothing was printed

Alternatives are not an available solution space.

Solutions that would solve the problem would likely hose the rich, and we can't have that.

I'm pretty sure California isn't printing their own money ... yet.

This is just rearranging piles of money into new piles of money.

Sigh. Don't remind me. Those of us here with more than 3 brain cells tried to oust her, but the morons of this state sadly were victorious.

Which also means I am terribly afraid Paul LePage may win again as well.

Dims should take note:

More than one million U.S. voters have switched their party affiliation to the GOP over the past 12 months, painting a grim picture for Democrats in the 2022 midterms.
