How ever did the Disneyland guest overcome such harrowing inconvenience?

I've been on RotR 3 times (not the same day though) and it's always worked fine. Lucky me I guess. It's definitely worth paying for the lightning passes at least once. Disney will definitely squeeze every last dollar out of you.

Wait... People pay to wait over 100 min for the chance to try an amusement ride that is constantly breaking down?

That's insanity.

You can "ride" just about any ride you want ton youtube. No it's not the same but the difference doesn't seem to be worth it in this case.

You must have never been to a decent amusement park in the 80's or 90's. Before things like fastpass and other queue-management efforts most E-tickets and rollercoasters were 90+ minutes daily.
It sounds like you have never waited on a real line in your life and I pray you never attempt Cedar Point- you won't be able to handle it.
P.S. Get off my lawn.

The 100 minutes is for the main 'standby' line. Basically, if you don't to a Lightning Lane pass, that's your average wait time. So, on par with Space Mountain.

Also, once you start, the total length for the ride is 18 minutes, from your 'briefing' to disembarking.

I'm really not a fan of the Lightning Lane/Genie+ fees, especially since they're per ride. FastPass was free and amuch better system, IMO. But it's still better than the non-system when RoR first opened where you and your *whole* party had to be inside the park to reserve a single go-through on RoR, and the ride attendance for the day filled up within an hour of park open.

"I've been on RoR 3 times today and have been evacuated every time," the person posted on Reddit.

That's nasty. I hope they washed off the seat after each of his rides.

Star Wars land is simultaneously magical and horrible. There are entirely too many people and lines for everything.

/ Also...there's no where to sit and relax at Disney except at the Nations' Pavilions at Epcot.

FFS - $20 for express boarding for one ride? I'm glad I've been to Disneyland many times since I was a kid back in the 19mumbleties. It's not worth it any more.

So let's see here... I think there are two courses of action here. We can either relax safety rules, cut back in inspections, etc... That will keep the ride from getting shut down.

At least until someone dies.

The alternative is that we continue to keep rides safe, and people go on a different ride until that one is back online...

No, that will never work. I guess it's time to do awag with safety procedures!

everybody gets that, so the wait is back up to 100+ minutes.

you need the "Fast Pass++ Platinum" now to only wait 30 mins

/it's an extra $100 per ride

If you have the old system, you could probably only wait 45 minutes, but that isn't how you fleece anxiety ridden guests out of their money, who have long past the point of sunk cost fallacy.

I read somewhere that the Imagineers told Disney the ride wasn't ready, as it was so technologically intricate it needed a lot of testing, but Disney said "Galaxy's Edge is flopping, open that thing NOW." Welcome to the result.

Depends how you value your time. If you pay $100 to get in the gate (which does not even account for hotels or other incidentals) and only have 8 hours then each hour is worth roughly $12.50. Paying $15 or $20 may be worth it to someone who would like to reclaim that time to spend on extra or other experiences besides waiting in a standby line.

Hire that Bam Margarita guy to dress up as Darth Vader junior, and send him out to rant and hurt himself in front of the paying guests. He gets gainful employment, does what he does best, and nobody has to pretend animatronic Darth Vader junior looks lifelike.

I like when rides break down and you have to walk out.  You get a better sense of the creativity behind it and the detailed work that goes into creating a scene or atmosphere that a guest only experiences for 5 seconds.

I just read the same thing on Fark. And then commented on it. It must be true!
