Time to end the monarchy.

An obvious example of noblesse oblige.

like a taxi with both passenger doors open. There seems to be no end to the nonsense, and not much that family will not do.

F*cking monarchs

If a Sheik gave you a bag full of cash, isn't it rude to turn it down? Like, IDK the gift rules of their culture. Best to err on the side of accepting a bag of cash than to cause offense.

It's nice to have your own laundry facility.

Just from the quick read, the Qatari Prince was the one hiding stuff. Chuckie Boy just took care of it with a small processing fee.

What if he gives you women? Weapons? Exotic animals?

LOL, what part of "Prince" don't you understand? It's ok if you say it's ok. Because you're a farking prince. Maybe the King or Queen might slap you down, but otherwise you're golden. Charles should hang some peasants to remind everyone.

Even considering that €500 bills are a thing...that's still 2000 bills. I didn't think that he was strong enough to pick up something like that!

Any monarchy where I'm not getting my daily briefcase of 1 million euros is obviously corrupt.

Hey... that's what I was gonna buy with the money from the bags! Dude saved me like a day of running errands. What a mensch.

To be fair, if I were in a position to be giving out $1M donations, I'd totally do it with piles of small, non-sequential bills.  Because why the hell not?

I mean...if someone gives me another person... I'm getting that person out of that country.

/ It's likely that the person being given would be in significant danger if they remain in that country.

Under the rules though, that makes them your side kick for life. Unless you aren't a protagonist. In which case, congrats on your new gig as a side kick.

The reasons for cash seeming suspicious is that it's to avoid the money being officially counted and taxed. If they actually declared it at the time (something that can be verified), however, then it's just a way of transferring money, meant to flaunt wealth for the giver. As the article says at the end:

"There is no suggestion the payments were illegal."

I'm not a monarchist in any way, but I'd need a reason this is bad to care.

Better looking royals than the current lot in London have been treated more harshly.  Do it.

Then you, I don't know, turn right around and write a check to a children's hospital for that amount and make a public gesture of accepting the money as a charitable gift.

How is it laundering to give the suitcase directly to his subjects via the charity? The royal family has its own mechanisms for distributing resources to their subjects, newsflash! *jazz hands*

Correct. The point is that the PoW pass it on to his subjects somehow.

All the Americans sin this thread want the Sheikh to get a tax receipt (wtf are you guys babbling about anyhow), and for the PoW to invest it in the stock market or embezzle it into Mar-A-Lago memberships.

You just need a sponge and a bucket of soapy water. Hold your breath before you work around to under the tail.

What is the point of giving Prince Charles one million euros?  What can he do for anybody?  Unless you are paying him to go away, I guess.  For the British public, maybe that would be a bargain.

To end monarchy you need to change how a nation thinks. Conservatism literally means fealty to the king. We still haven't brought it down to tolerable levels in the US.

It would have been darkly funny had the department store had been Harrods. :|

IDGAF one way or another about the British royals but I like how they "leave it up to the reader's imagination' that Charlie is physically receiving this briefcase of money, opens it, checks out random wad of cash to make sure it's real, then closes it and nods to the Emir that the deal is done.

We did, back in 1776, at least officially.. on paper it was a few years before that..

has anyone really and truly taken the time to realize that the prince is not doing this for himself, he apparently is doing this for his brother, who has some issues right now.

the money is actually a donation and is going to a good cause--the prince philip home for wayward girls between the ages of 18 and 21.  a very noble cause, i may add.

Agreed.

And make the queen do it with her own hand.

Have the prince kneeled before her in chains.  And give her a ceremonial knife to slit his throat.  If the queen does it, it isnt illegal.

Stream the execution world wide in 4k 60hz 3d.  Make sure a separate channel zooms in on the queen's face as she does the deed.
