Sorry, but you don't get to be the hero when you're a major part of the reason the problem exists in the first place--and you're not even trying to solve the real problem, just alleviate the symptoms.

F*ck your Funnies and get f*cked yourselves. Corporations give millions to Republicans and their campaigns. They quite literally funded the eviscerations of our human rights.

So you came to this thread to specifically complain about one company doing the exact opposite?

How about next time saying, "Good on Patagonia. We need to see a lot more from other corporations."

Lumping everything into the same broad category accomplishes nothing. And being hostile to others (would-be activists, contributors, voters) turns them off from joining the fight.

I'm trying to have a reasonable conversation, but thanks for the ill wishes.

Patagonia has been donating to Planned Parenthood since 1990. They donated $10 million to environmental groups (their entirety of tax benefits from the Trump cuts) in protest of the denial of climate change. This week, they said they'd cover bail expenses for employees arrested for protesting the overturning of Roe.

And you're trashing them and cursing out the thread because... **checks notes**... many other, unrelated corporations donate to Republicans. It doesn't make sense, unless you're a person who reacts to everything with venom and misery.

Are Pantagonia jackets worth the $$? I'm gonna want something nice and warm before my next Boston winter. I've also considered Helly Hansen since I have a line on discounts on some of their stuff.

This is what he does.  It's a weird form of political and activist black pilling.  Usually, it's done every time an issue isn't centered exactly as A101 wants, which is to say, any way that doesn't make them the centre of attention.

It's trolling and the mods protect them.

Hey mods my timeout expired, can you give me another please?

Every time it wears out I'm only using my posting privileges to call out your bullshiat.

I've owned  Patagonia, North Face, Adidas and a used Canada Goose.

Patagonia and North face are comparable to each other IMO with regards to quality and warmth. I have yet to go through one, but I understand Boston winters are brutal (maybe on par with the lake effect squalls back in ON, but longer?)

Adidas is on it's own as the one I have is more suited for 'lighter' winters, but did get me through 2 brutal Iowa winter snowblowing. (Thank you NixWax for wash in waterproofing!) It was also SUUUPER cheap because it's this weird sort of lime green construction colour.

Now, Canada Goose? You'll be shelling out some serious bux (north of 900$ USD) for a good coat. But hey, it kept those exploring the Arctic Circle warm in WAAAAAY worse weather then we'll ever see. *fingers crossed*

I couldn't give two shiats about Patagonia, but my brother has been a Director there for about five years and he talks nonstop about the political work they do, including active lobbying against the GOP.  So take your giant, sad paintbrush elsewhere. Patagonia absolutely does care about stuff like this, and their track record proves it. They've done more for the world - both good and bad - than you could ever hope to accomplish.

I prefer Mountain Hardware to Patagonia and North Face....and don't even put NF in the same category as MH and Patagonia.

I've not owned anything NF but my Patagonia pants (winter running) have lasted about 4x as long as the MH pants (which I like for other reasons).

North Face has turned into a fashion brand. Their mountaineering gear is getting harder to find.

Boston gets pretty brutal being right on the coast. On par, and maybe even worse than living on the lake in Chicago.

Man. I wish I hadn't donated my the old USAF issue cold weather parka dad gave me. One of the really old school ones that still used wolf fur around the hood. Man, that thing kept me warm AF in Chicago. Weighed 2 tons of course. But oh well.

Lol, and ugly as sin, being the old olive drab.

I will agree with this whole heartidly, which is why  I *never* thought to purchase a NF item of clothing. It's all Dicks Sporting Goods latte moms who head to UTLA next door after. Only reason I own 3 NF items is that they were gifts.

And, yah, all of these Mountaineering brands have turned into bougie ski-weekend trips to Aspen (but I repeat myself).

I've never owned a Royal Robbins coat, but their hiking pants/shorts and 'dry fit' shirts are amazing.

Having long worn Patagonia jackets and layers when backcountry camping in zero degree temperatures, yes, they are extremely warm and well made. They're also very generous with repairs and replacements when something gets damage.

I swear by their clothing - when I backcountry camp, everything from hats down to socks are Patagonia.

I have Patagonia clothing, not hanging in the back of the closet, that dates back 30 years.

I can understand companies not wanting to get political. They don't want to lose half their customer base. But it gets to a point where they will have to draw a line between what is right and what is wrong. Most business decisions are based on facts, and the Republicans are not basing their social, political or economic decisions on facts. Its still up in the air whether businesses will have the will to sacrifice some customers in the short term from political dissent or a lot more customers who will die due to an extinction event.

But you can't just blame companies. There are a ton of people who vote Democrat and then go to church at the same time and donate money to their church, totally cancelling themselves out. They don't seem to recognize that religious organizations are the biggest supporters of the anti-abortion movement. Not necessarily monetarily but in a brainwashing capacity.

Thanks everyone. I will absolutely check them out as we get closer to winter.

Tho, I imagine summer is the best time to buy a winter jacket.

Do they do retail stores or are they sold by any particular retailer?
