AOC is awesome.  She's really good at motivating the base and getting people excited about voting.  Just imagine if she helped Hillary Clinton get 79,000 additional votes, the Dems would have been the ones nominating 3 new SCOTUS justices instead of Trump.

Before the usual suspects come in and tell us that's not a plan, just a all for suggestions:

The President & Dem leaders can no longer get away with familiar tactics of "committees" and "studies" to avoid tackling our crises head-on anymore:
- Restrain judicial review
- Open clinics on federal lands
- Court expansion
- Expand Fed access/awareness of pill abortions
- etc

For the moments when we DO insist on elections, we must be PRECISE with what we need and we will do with that power: How many seats does the party need to Codify Roe? Dems must SAY THAT. Not just "go vote" or "give us $6 to win." That is demoralizing, losing, unfocused nonsense.  What's the *actual* need? Which specific seats are we focused on? WHAT votes do we need & WHERE (what states + races?) And, what's the return? What is Biden/Congress ACTUALLY willing+able to do at 52/60 seats? Be honest. Details motivate

IMHO, Democratic leadership is always fighting the last campaign.  The Republicans are being proactive.  If we want to address the gerontocracy of SCOTUS, let's start with the ones in Congress and the White House.

Also: I just want one reporter to ask those SC justices one question on live TV or get them an audio recording:

"Was it always your goal to overturn Roe vs. Wade since before you joined the Supreme Court? Yes or no?"

But even if they admit under oath that it was, there is little chance to remove them because impeachment would take a Senate conviction. Their statements to Congress in the past during the confirmation hearings were just vague enough to give them deniability.

Maybe it deflects from your point.  Republicans were laser focused on the Supreme Court.  Some Democrats did not truly appreciate this danger and did not act accordingly.

I mean if the Dem leadership is SOOOOOOOOOOO GREAT, why is it that I have races on the ballot with NO DEMOCRATIC CHALLENGER?

There should never be an unchallenged race, even for dog catcher, because you never ever know what might happen.  Maybe they actually do find the (R) candidate in bed with a naked little boy or something three days before the election.  Welp, nobody else is on the ballot, guess they win by default!  But hey what do I know.

She won because the 10 term incumbent managed to fark up badly versus a determined opponent in the primary and is in a safe D district.  If he'd have shown up for the debate and looked like he cared about his district he'd have been safe.  That's how hard it is to unseat these farkers once they get in.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
"I will explain this to you slowly: exercising our right to protest is not obstruction of Congress nor an attempt to overturn democracy."

She's typing slowly because we can't read very quickly.  LOL.  I appreciate her points they aren't wrong but they aren't new either.

Summarized:
1) have and communicate a plan with specifics to get more Dems in power (no shiat)
2) expand the courts (good luck with that)
3) protest (fair enough - I think that's happening now)

Honestly these aren't very fresh thoughts nor are they very aggressive.  How about general strikes?  School walk-outs.  How about boycotting companies in States banning abortions?

Personally, I think every non-pregnant woman in a state banning abortion in US should contact local health authorities and demand to register their pregnancy.   Ask them for assistance in finding an abortion provider.  Or, ask them for financial assistance to support the child you are carrying.  Declare them as dependants on your tax forms.

Contact them several days later to report a death miscarriage.  Contact the police to report a miscarriage.  Tell them you have been eating poorly and feel responsble.

This should be done by all non-pregnant women.  Run interference for actual pregnant women or women trying to get pregnant.  Report fake pregnancies, fake miscarriages and demand your vagina be treated as a crime scene.  Make a pact with your neighbours (not trying to have kids or pregnant) to report on each for getting pregnant or suspecting that they did not register a pregnancy.  Report political figures you suspect may be pregnant or participating in high risk activities which could cause a pregnancy.  Be creative.

Devil triangle beer bro actually perjured himself in his confirmation hearing if his  previous sworn statements to the Senate are used. But republicans just don't care about lying and criminal actions and it is part of their mantra of lie, cheat and steal

They need to start doing something, and that all sounds great. So far I've seen the Democratic leadership talk more about what they aren't willing to do rather than willing to do. It's depressing and infuriating and doesn't need to be that way.

Roe existed because 7 unelected white dudes decided that it should, regardless of how voters felt about it one way or the other.  It lived by the sword and died by the sword.

Stop talking about revolution and taking down the courts; democracy will do just fine.  You've got the public behind you, go get the votes.  Should've been done a long time ago.  Probably going to be more restrictive than Roe was, because that's where the public is.  That's how it goes in a democracy sometimes.

While you're at it, gay marriage has 70% approval.  Codify it so you don't have to give a damn what Clarence Thomas thinks about Obergefell.  Prove you can learn something.

Not like Howard Dean wasn't talking a 50 state strategy countering what Republicans were doing 20 years ago to lead to this point, but Dem leadership had to tear him down for being exuberant and trying to organize. He energized most of the state party rank and file but that irked the other leadership way too much.

Good thing they focused on a swing state media-only strategy with no successor grooming and let Republicans flip most blue states purple with deep benches of loyalists. That works fantastic.

Oh we'll be fine?

farking really?

You don't seem to understand what's happening, here. Hawley, as disgusting as he is, is not incorrect about what's going to result from these decisions, as they come down.

Red states will become more red. Blue states will become more blue. It's happening right now, and it's going to happen a lot more when more decisions come down, and more insane laws are enacted.

Tell me what that starts to look like, over time.

Democrats also spent decades focusing on national politics and abandoned local and state parties like the red-headed stepchildren they were.

The GOP power didn't just manifest, they worked the local scene hard since Nixon and it worked.

Progressives are slowly coming around to this tactic, more so than the DNC writ large, but it may be too little too late.

The DNC can walk and chew gum at the same time, there's no reason they can't flood money and resources into local, state, and national races to save our democracy.

Agreed 100%.

We learned here that despite something being referred to our entire lives as "settled law", the law and basic rights are subject to political shifts, and that is always true. Cuts both ways.

We stop paying attention and get complacent? We wake up to a lot more of this.

Yes... it was sketchy but it was exactly what should have been done with RBG... find a way to get her to retire when a Democrat is in office to secure the seat for 30 years.

Yet another thing the Nazis do better than the Dems.

What's so hypothetical about expecting a 26-yr-old bartender from Brooklyn to strategically boost an election by 79K votes spread out across several swing states?

I'm pretty sure the kittens I killed in the fall of 2016 was good for at LEAST 250K votes for Hilary in Texas alone. AOC did Jack shiat.
